This document discusses the nature of energy and defines what energy and work are. It states that energy is the ability to do work, and defines work as being done when a constant force causes an object to move in the direction of the applied force. It then provides the equation for calculating work done as the product of the constant force and distance moved in the direction of force. Finally, it notes that the standard unit for both work and energy is the joule.
3. Nature of energy,
Energy is all around you!
You can hear energy.
You can energy as light.
And you can feel energy as wind.
You use energy to,
Hit a ball.
Lift your book.
Compresing spring.
4.
5. What is energy?
1. It cames from the greek word
“energia”.
2. It means in or at work.
3. Therefore energy is the ability to
do work.
6. What is work?
1. Work is done only when a constant
force applied on an object, causes the
object to move in the same direction
as the force applied.
8. WORK DONE
1. Therefore, work done by a moving body is equal to the
product of force exerted on the body and the distance
moved by the body in the direction of force.
2. Work done can be calculate by,
WORK DONE = Constant force × Distance moved in
the direction of
force
W = F × S
Unit[J] = [N] × [m]
S I Unit of work is Joule(J).
9. Definition of One Joule.
When a force of 1N moves a body through a
distance of one meter in it’s direction, then the
work done is known as one Joule.
1 Joule = 1N × 1m
1 J = 1Nm.
UNIT OF ENEEGY :
Energy is a capacity to do
work. It is measured in terms of work. The unit
of work is Joule. So the unit of energy is also
Joule.
