TERENCE PETER CLARKE
This letter serves to confirm that Terence Peter Clarke was employed by the Bulawayo Office of
Ernst & Young Zimbabwe from 1 November 1996 to 31 October 2005. At the time of his resignation,
Mr Clarke held the position of Senior IT Manager. His duties were many and varied, but his overall
responsibility was to ensure the capability and reliability of our IT equipment.
In detail his job included the following:

Assembly of personal computers from base component level.
Identify and repair/replace faulty components in equipment.
Preventative maintenance.
Software support - Provide user support
Maintain the operating systems (currently Windows XP Professional).
Accounting software (Pastel).
Office suite (Microsoft Office 2003).
Time management and billing software (Practice Engine Client).
Lotus Notes (Client).
Software support - Provide server support
Maintain Windows 2000 Server.
Maintain SQL 7.
Maintain Symantec Corporate Antivirus.
Maintain Practice Engine Server.
Maintain Lotus Notes Domino.
Maintain Veritas Backup Exec.

Ensure connectivity and resolution of technical issues.
4. Security and Backup
Security of all internal electronic data - accessibility and archiving.
Ensuring client confidentiality by providing secure storage of data.
5. Departmental Management
Determining annual budgetary requirements.
Project planning and implementation.
Maintenance planning and implementation.
Contingency planning and implementation.
IT asset management.
Staff mentoring and development.
Control daily, weekly and monthly data input to provide accurate reporting and statistical
information.
During the time that Mr Clarke spent with us, he has performed his duties to our complete satisfaction. He
has always acted promptly and efficiently to calls for assistance and has frequently worked many hours of
overtime when we had server or virus problems. He is very proficient at his job. Mr Clarke has got on well
with the Partners, his peers and his subordinates and approaches his work with a cheerful and friendly
manner.
Mr Clarke is leaving Ernst & Young completely of his own accord, and we believe he will be leaving
Zimbabwe and immigrating to the United Kingdom. I would highly recommend him as an employee in any
area of the large variety of tasks mentioned above, to any potential employer.
