Lab analyst:
Recruited for full-time position following internship and completion of bachelor’s degree.
Met goals ahead of schedule and assisted the team in other areas where job needed to be completed.
Collaborated well with the team in the chain of command needed for the job to get done.
Responsible for prepping over 100 asbestos samples daily using the filters.
Examined thousands of asbestos fibers utilizing Phase Contrast Microscopy and Transmission Electron microscopy
daily.
Delivered the analyzed samples in a timely manner.
Wrote reports on the step-by-step process taken to reach our conclusion.
Research Highlights:
Performed DNA analysis utilizing buccal cell collection and QIAamp extraction. The DNA was qualified using
qPCR and amplified to produce 9 specific loci using specific fluorescent labeled primers.
Demonstrated that PCR amplification, mtDNA quantification, linear array, and pre/post amplfication sample
cleanup and cycle sequencing were a means of obtaining positive sequencing results through ABI PRISM 310
Genetic Analyzer.
Served on a research team that prepared an allelic ladder that was used as a reference to call alleles in
connection to Y-STR.
Maintained impeccable standards in lab and adhered to lab rules, chemical inventories, safely disposing of waste
and accurate calibrating laboratory equipment.
