3. Unlike a classroom, a tutor is far more personalized.
They react to your needs and help you with your educational
impairments.
Free of charge, Sinclair’s tutorial services offer Learning Labs.
Learning Labs take place at set times in set locations (at many
other campus locations as well) and offer a tutor for you to visit.
Online, Sinclair offers helpful links like Perdue Writing Lab,
Great Books Online, dictionaries, reference guides, and study
guides.

4. But remember…
…Sinclair’s instructors should always be your first of
source information for course material.
It is important to talk with them about any trouble you
may be having in class before seeking the aid of tutor.

7. • Not only does Sinclair have an extensive library of books,
texts, and magazines, it also has a large database online.

8. In an interview, Sonya Kirkwood describes many helpful things
about the Sinclair library,
“…there are lots of computers and there are lots of staff to
provide hands on support on the use of the computers and the
software. They [students] come because maybe they need a place
to study as a group (there are 6 study rooms with whiteboards).
They come because there is staff (librarians) that are trained to
help the utilize the various tools and databases that SCC makes
available to their students. They come because of Starbucks.”

9. Sonya Kirkwood also states that there are job opportunities for
students at Sinclair…
“The library does offer jobs to students. We rely on students a
lot. Students shelve books, staff the service desk, help patrons, do
technical processing in the back areas of the library and various
other tasks. A job description is usually posted when a job is
available in the library. There are different departments in the
library – and depending upon the area, the student(s) may be
called upon to do very specific tasks. Also, the library houses
several other departments that also hire students: Information
Technology Department, Tutorial Services, and the Writing
Center.”
