Our environment is one ofthe biggest influenceson our habits andbehaviors. We can set
ourselves upforweight losssuccessby making small changes to our surroundings. Start to
build a healthy lifestyle by placing yourself in a “yes” world that supports your goals.
How to place yourself in a “Yes”world:
Identify yoursource ofmotivationand remindyourself constantly.
 Remembering that motivation can be more than a dress size or a goal weight;
identify the areas of your life that will improve when you become healthier.
 Make your goals a visible part of your environment. Write your goals somewhere
you’ll see them, put up a motivational picture -- whatever keeps
your motivation on your mind.
Clean up your kitchenand pantry.
 Reduce added sugars, highly processed items, and foods
containing empty calories.
 Invest in natural, healthy foods that you enjoy. Make these foods more visible and
accessible by placing them in a bowl on your counter, in clear containers, at the
forefront of your refrigerator, etc.
Establishyoursupport system by sharing your goals with friends andfamily.
Make sure the people you spend your time with are informed of your health goals and
prepared to support you in making lifestyle changes. It may be an adjustment for them too,
but it’s important to have them on your team.
Plan ahead.
Nutrition often gets put on the back burner when we’re busy. Take the guesswork out of
your nutrition choices by planning your meals and snacks ahead of time.
 Look at your schedule for the week and plan your meals and snacks accordingly.
 Set time aside to prepare and store a few meals for the week.
 Bring healthy snacks and mini meals with you when you’re on the go.
