Since fuel costs amount to more than half of
our OpEx, we came to the conclusion that we
needed to take some action. Wärtsilä
guaranteed us an increase in propulsion
efficiency resulting in at least 10 % reduction
in fuel consumption simply by using only two
engines instead of four. After several
evaluations of the alternatives we had, we
considered Wärtsilä’s solution to be the best.

For a coaster such as Fast Jef, it is increasingly imperative to
operate as energy efficiently as possible. Firstly, because our
charterers require it, and secondly because it gives savings.
We believe in Wärtsilä’s philosophy – producing energy with as
little impact on the environment as possible. The Wärtsilä
EnergoProFin has a direct effect on the fuel consumption.
It is indeed reduced by 1 to 2 per cent. Wärtsilä is offering
innovative solutions, which is important, because
innovations are what we are interested in. If you never
try something new, you will never improve anything.
