Neil Wilson, CEO of Stanton House, gave a presentation about the founding and growth of the recruitment company over the past six years. He discussed his background in recruitment and launching Stanton House in 2010 with 50 employees and £20m in turnover across four offices. Wilson explained that his motivation was to "make a dent in the universe" despite there being over 17,000 recruitment companies. He outlined the four stages of evolution the company went through - planning, gaining momentum in the first year, surviving, and now scaling up sustainably. After five years, Wilson has learned that a non-executive is invaluable, leadership is key, culture must be protected, and the founding vision should not be compromised.
