1~2 minutes script Diogo Cao (I hold up a telescope, then when audience came in front me start talking) Hello my name is Diogo Cao. I was born in Vila Real in Portugal, at the middle of the 15th century. I don’t know when I was born clearly. I was illegitimate son of Alvaro Fernandez Goncalves Cao. We are a family of five. We lived in the far north of Portugal in the province of Tres os Montes. I was a really bad student when I was young but I knew all about Africa because I lived close to Africa. I made 2 voyages along the west coast of Africa. It makes me famous. (Point up for far away) I was the first time Portuguese person voyage to Africa. This is so good right? I opened Africa up for others. I voyaged over the equator because Henrique navigator told me ‘’go to over the equator and voyage to Africa”. (Open a map) My first voyage was in June 1482-1483. I discovered the Congo River, and contacted the Congo kingdom. I followed the African coast southward until Cape St. Mary in Angola. (Show to audience) My second voyage was in 1485-1486. I reached even south, to Cape Cross in Namibia. I also sailed a short way up the Congo. In October or November 1485, near the falls of “Ielala”, I leave an inscription engraved on the stone, which testifies of its passage and that of his men. (Show to Audience a Stone Picture) It means ,[object Object],I married with Brites Figueira de Azevedo. I had 4 children. I died off Cape Cross.
