CHRIS BAIN
Chief Executive, Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust
Chris joined the NHS in 1980 and has since worked in a variety of senior roles across many different sectors in South and West
Yorkshire.
Starting her career in Sheffield, Chris then worked in Barnsley before joining Marks & Spencer PLC in 1989 for 2 years. In 1992
she returned to the NHS in a senior planning role with Bradford Health Authority and in 1996 joined Wakefield Health
Authority, eventually becoming Director of Performance in 2000. In 2003 she spent 12 months on secondment working with
Professor Beverly Alimo-Metcalfe at the University of Leeds during which she developed her personal interest in Leadership.
She currently acts as the Lead NHS Chief Executive for Leadership in the Yorkshire & Humber Region and chairs the Regional
Leadership Council and the Y&H Local Delivery Partnership.
In 2004 Chris was appointed as Chief Executive of Doncaster East PCT and in March 2009 Chris took up her current post as
Chief Executive, Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS FT. She is also a Governor at Rotherham College and a newly
appointed Non-Executive Director of Derbyshire Health United Ltd.
In May 2015, Chris will be leaving the NHS to work as an Independent Consultant, Executive Coach and Mentor.

TOM LINDLEY
Founder, Inspiring Leaders Network
Tom is currently Head of Commercial Development within the Yorkshire and Humber AHSN. As an experienced mental health
nurse, Tom has worked across various areas of mental health care including acute, forensic and older adult services. Tom left
full time practice in 2011 moving to work in governance, assurance and regulation of secondary care services before joining the
highly acclaimed NHS Graduate Scheme in 2012.
Throughout that time Tom worked on high profile change projects, re-designing services and cost improvement programmes
during his time with regional providers and KPMG. That year saw Tom recognised as a Guardian UK 300 ‘Rising Star’ before
moving to hone commercial skills and grow international networks with NHS England’s Innovation Team.
In 2014 Tom founded the Yorkshire and Humber Inspiring Leaders Network, a programme providing aspiring leaders and
managers from across the NHS with an opportunity to access free and extra-curricular activities to support personal
development and connect with the wider health and care sector.
In 2015, Tom formed his own company, TRL Healthcare Innovation Ltd, an organisation providing business support and
consultancy services across the health sector.

CAROL WILBY
Head of Commercial and International Innovation, NHS England
Carol’s career in the NHS spans four decades. Her first post as a Staff Nurse in the operating theatres intensified her interest in
the education and training of staff. This led to her developing and introducing a national education programme for operating
department staff along with professional registration as a Health Care Practitioner. During her time at the Department of
Health, she led the development of imaging policy including the introduction of mobile scanning units and four internationally
acclaimed radiology academies. More recently she has worked on the assessment of Foundation Trust applications and Deputy
Secretary to a national inquiry into tissue abuse in the nuclear industry. She has recently moved from being Head of Office for
Sir Bruce Keogh, National Medical Director for NHS England into her current role as Head of Commercial and International
Innovation at NHS England.

PROFESSOR DAVID WELBOURN
MD, Eutropia & Visiting Professor, CASS Business School
David Welbourn is Visiting Professor in Health Systems Management and Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Enterprise.
David spent five years in the NHS as a Strategic Health Authority (SHA) Executive Director of Performance, and as Chief
Information Officer (CIO). During this time, as well as achieving recognition as one of the highest performing SHAs, he also
worked closely on national policy issues in both performance and IT.
Prior to this, his experience covered most aspects of technology and corporate management in the telecom sector, including
corporate strategy, corporate finance, marketing, delivery of major change programmes, IT and ten years of cutting edge
research in Materials Science where he published widely, including registering 15 patents. David is both a Chartered Engineer
and Chartered Physicist, and studied Natural Sciences at Trinity College Cambridge, specialising in Theoretical Physics. He
obtained his PhD from Edinburgh University, working across Materials Science and Engineering.

PETER CROW
Executive Director, Quarry Group
Peter Crow is an independent advisor and researcher on corporate governance, strategy and business performance; and a
chartered company director. His sector knowledge and experience extends across professional services; logistics and
distribution; agriculture and primary production; high technology; community services; and, to a lesser extent, health,
education and government.
Peter lives in New Zealand but has travelled extensively to speak and advise leaders who want to realise the potential of their
organisations. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, and he holds memberships in several European and
International corporate governance institutes. He is currently finalising his doctoral thesis on boards and the influence they can
have on business performance. His wife is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

HANNA LEAHY, BSC, PGDIP, MSC
Business Development Manager, Sheffield Hallam University
Hanna is the business development manager for the staff health and wellbeing service at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU).
Hanna's expertise is based in health behaviour change; developed through her MSc in health psychology and 5 years delivery
experience as a workplace wellbeing practitioner. Hanna has the evidence-based SHU Wellness service in university and NHS
settings and has consequently worked with a wide range of clients.
In addition to delivery expertise, Hanna has comprehensive operational, business and theoretical expertise on workplace
wellbeing programmes. Specifically, Hanna enables initial engagement, training, set-up and delivery of the service across all
employment sectors.

SIR ANDREW CASH
Chief Executive, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Sir Andrew is Chief Executive of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest NHS foundation
trusts in England with an annual budget in excess of £1BN and 16,000 staff.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded the independently assessed “Hospital of the Year” three
times in the last six years.
Andrew was the founding Chair of the Foundation Trust Network (FTN) and has undertaken three spells in the Department of
Health, England – the most recent a secondment for a year as a Director General for developing health service providers. He is
a visiting Professor in Leadership and Development at the Universities of Sheffield and York. He chairs the NHS Employers
Policy Board, is Deputy Chair of the NHS Confederation, is a member of the Innovation, Health and Wealth Implementation
Board and is the Chair of the Shelford Group which are the top ten university hospitals in England.
He was appointed an OBE in 2001 and knighted in 2009 for services to the National Health Service.

PROFESSOR DEAN FATHERS
Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Dean became Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in January 2011. Alongside his duties in the NHS, Dean is also a
Professor in Practice of Healthcare Management at Cass Business School, a Professorial Fellow with the Institute of Mental
Health, Vice Chair of the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network and Chair of the Steering Group: National evaluation
review of Schwartz Round Centres, King’s College, London. He is Chair of Smartgate Solutions and a Senior Independent
Director of both JRI Orthopaedics and Higos Insurance, and a Non Executive Director of Finegreen
Prior to becoming Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Dean chaired NHS Bassetlaw, had a period as a Non Executive Director
on South Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority and has also chaired Doncaster Health Authority. Dean has a strong interest in
leadership/development as well as governance and has consequently held roles on the NHS’s National Training Group, chaired
the East Midlands SHA’s Learning and Development Board, was a founder of the East Midlands Leadership Academy and also
held Board roles on two Workforce Development Boards.

JULIAN HARTLEY
Chief Executive, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Julian joined Leeds Teaching Hospitals in October 2013, having previously worked as Managing Director of NHS Improving
Quality - a national organisation set up to drive change and improvement across the NHS.
Julian’s career in the NHS began as a general management trainee working in the North East of England. Following his training,
he worked in a number of NHS management posts at hospital, health authority and regional level. His first Board Director
appointment was at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust, where he was responsible for planning, operations and strategy.
Julian led Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust (PCT) as Chief Executive for three years, where he took it to three star
status, developed new Primary Care Centres and managed the PCT’s involvement in the Shipman Inquiry.
From 2005 Julian was Chief Executive of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, seeing the Trust transform
and go on to achieve major financial turnaround, secure Foundation Trust status and become one of the first Trusts in the
country to meet 18-week targets. In addition, Julian chaired the North West Leadership Academy.
Julian was appointed Chief Executive of University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust in June 2009 and led a
major turnaround in MRSA reduction, A&E and 18 week performance. He also introduced a major programme of cultural
change to improve patient experience and outcomes.

RICHARD STUBBS
Commercial Director, Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network
Richard is the Commercial Director of the AHSN with responsibility for executive leadership on the commercial, industry, economic growth
and wealth creation aspects of Y&H AHSN’s overall programme of work.
Prior to this Richard was Head of Commercial and International Innovation at NHS England. His role involved developing national
programmes that maximise benefits to patients and the NHS, in addition to supporting UK economic growth agenda, by promoting and
facilitating commercial opportunities, both domestically and internationally.
Before joining NHS England Richard was the Managing Director for NHS Global, a UK body established to support the delivery of health
care expertise to international markets. NHS Global worked closely with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to deliver services and expertise
globally by harnessing the powerful collaboration of NHS and commercial sector partnerships. This led to the creation of a joint unit called
Healthcare UK which was formally launched in January 2013.
Richard was also Programme Director for the NHS Innovation Challenge Prizes at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, a role
that involved improving the culture of innovation in NHS organisations. Prior to joining the NHS Institute in April 2010 Richard was
Associate Director of Corporate Strategy at Derbyshire County PCT with the lead responsibility for delivering the World Class
Commissioning agenda. He was also a participant on the first cohort of the Top Talent Breaking Through Programme.
Richard represented emerging NHS leaders as a core member of the NHS National Leadership Council and is also a member of the NHS
Health and Well-being Scrutiny Panel.
Richard joined the NHS in 2002 through the national Graduate Management Scheme and has previously worked in numerous sectors,
including the acute sector as Head of Business Development at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Prior to joining the NHS Richard worked in the media, predominantly in TV and radio production at the BBC and Granada TV.

KEVIN KIELY
Chief Executive, Medilink YH and NW, International Executive Medilink UK
Kevin is the founder and CEO of Medilink, a professional association and specialist consultancy for the Life Science sector. It
brings together in a formal partnership at a regional level, the NHS, business and academia, to enhance the competiveness of
the UK Life Science Industry and improve patient care.
Kevin leads on Medilink’s innovation service provision. He has 20 years’ experience of facilitating and fast tracking new
product developments; successfully converting clinical need and new technology advancements into commercially available
solutions. He is a Council member of the Royal Society of Medicines ‘New Technologies in Medicines Council’ and a
technology assessor for various UK government funding agencies.
Kevin also leads on Medilink’s international services, and in this capacity facilitates international initiatives and represents
government agencies at major events across the world. He has signed MOUs for cooperation and exchange in trade,
technology transfer and R&D with China and Brazil’s largest medical device trade associations.
He sits on major national committees and supports integrated service delivery through partnership working with key national
and regional organisations such as Innovate UK, UKTI, Healthcare UK, AHSNs and Local Enterprise Partnerships.

CAROL ARIES
Head of Strategic Partnerships, 3M
Carol has a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Business Economics from Southampton University and an MBA from the Open
University. Carol has 26 year experience working in the medical devices industry including a variety of roles in Sales and
Marketing Management for both the UK and European markets and in Strategic Business Development. Carol is also a qualified
Six Sigma Black Belt. In 2013 Carol completed a 12 month secondment to the Department of Health working in the Innovations
Division supporting the implementation of the Department of Health Innovation, Health and Wealth strategy. Carol is currently
Head of Strategic Partnerships for 3M Health Care responsible for developing business relationships with Government and
Policy influencing bodies in the Health Care arena

PROFESSOR CHRISTINE MOFFATT CBE FRCN PHD MA RGN DN
Professor of Clinical Nursing Research at the University of Nottingham School of Nursing, Midwifery and
Physiotherapy
Christine is Professor of Clinical Nursing Research at the University of Nottingham School of Nursing, Midwifery and
Physiotherapy and holds other visiting chairs at the University of Glasgow and Cardiff University Medical School Wound Healing
Institute. She is also nurse consultant at the Royal Derby Foundation NHS Trust Lymphoedema service in which she leads a
research team as well as undertaking a clinical consultancy role.
Christine is currently joint Chair person and Director of the International Lymphoedema Framework (with Professor Neil Piller)
She has been involved in wound healing research and practice for 25 years and Lymphoedema for 10 years. She has undertaken
extensive research in this field using mixed research methods including running national and international clinical trials.
Her areas of research include compression therapy; service development and evaluation; psychosocial impact of disease;
chronic wounds and lymphoedema. She has presented and published internationally.
She was awarded a CBE in the 2006 New Year’s Honours List and made a life fellow of the Royal College of Nursing that same
year. She has received several life time achievement awards in recognition of her work, the most recent being presented by the
World Union of Wound Healing Societies in June 2008. In December 2008 she received a Nursing Times Diamond 20 Award as
one of the 20 most influential nurses in the last 60 years.

Chief Executive, Finegreen Associates
Managing Director / Chief Executive of a successful, award winning Public Sector (predominantly Healthcare) focused Executive
/ Management Recruitment Consultancy.
With over 10 years experience in this field, Neil built up a business with excellent networks at the highest level across
industries which has been complemented by the consultancy being featured in the Sunday Times Top 100, Recruiter 'Hot' Top
10 and seen them voted HealthInvestor's Recruiter of the Year in both 2013 and 2014.
Particular strengths are in the NHS, Private Healthcare and International Healthcare arena with some additional strong links
into Education, Local Government and large Private Sector providers of services to the Healthcare industry.

  • 3. #ILNsymposium CHRIS BAIN Chief Executive, Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust Chris joined the NHS in 1980 and has since worked in a variety of senior roles across many different sectors in South and West Yorkshire. Starting her career in Sheffield, Chris then worked in Barnsley before joining Marks & Spencer PLC in 1989 for 2 years. In 1992 she returned to the NHS in a senior planning role with Bradford Health Authority and in 1996 joined Wakefield Health Authority, eventually becoming Director of Performance in 2000. In 2003 she spent 12 months on secondment working with Professor Beverly Alimo-Metcalfe at the University of Leeds during which she developed her personal interest in Leadership. She currently acts as the Lead NHS Chief Executive for Leadership in the Yorkshire & Humber Region and chairs the Regional Leadership Council and the Y&H Local Delivery Partnership. In 2004 Chris was appointed as Chief Executive of Doncaster East PCT and in March 2009 Chris took up her current post as Chief Executive, Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS FT. She is also a Governor at Rotherham College and a newly appointed Non-Executive Director of Derbyshire Health United Ltd. In May 2015, Chris will be leaving the NHS to work as an Independent Consultant, Executive Coach and Mentor.
  • 4. #ILNsymposium TOM LINDLEY Founder, Inspiring Leaders Network Tom is currently Head of Commercial Development within the Yorkshire and Humber AHSN. As an experienced mental health nurse, Tom has worked across various areas of mental health care including acute, forensic and older adult services. Tom left full time practice in 2011 moving to work in governance, assurance and regulation of secondary care services before joining the highly acclaimed NHS Graduate Scheme in 2012. Throughout that time Tom worked on high profile change projects, re-designing services and cost improvement programmes during his time with regional providers and KPMG. That year saw Tom recognised as a Guardian UK 300 ‘Rising Star’ before moving to hone commercial skills and grow international networks with NHS England’s Innovation Team. In 2014 Tom founded the Yorkshire and Humber Inspiring Leaders Network, a programme providing aspiring leaders and managers from across the NHS with an opportunity to access free and extra-curricular activities to support personal development and connect with the wider health and care sector. In 2015, Tom formed his own company, TRL Healthcare Innovation Ltd, an organisation providing business support and consultancy services across the health sector.

Her first post as a Staff Nurse in the operating theatres intensified her interest in the education and training of staff. This led to her developing and introducing a national education programme for operating department staff along with professional registration as a Health Care Practitioner. During her time at the Department of Health, she led the development of imaging policy including the introduction of mobile scanning units and four internationally acclaimed radiology academies. More recently she has worked on the assessment of Foundation Trust applications and Deputy Secretary to a national inquiry into tissue abuse in the nuclear industry. She has recently moved from being Head of Office for Sir Bruce Keogh, National Medical Director for NHS England into her current role as Head of Commercial and International Innovation at NHS England.

  • 7. #ILNsymposium PROFESSOR DAVID WELBOURN MD, Eutropia & Visiting Professor, CASS Business School David Welbourn is Visiting Professor in Health Systems Management and Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Enterprise. David spent five years in the NHS as a Strategic Health Authority (SHA) Executive Director of Performance, and as Chief Information Officer (CIO). During this time, as well as achieving recognition as one of the highest performing SHAs, he also worked closely on national policy issues in both performance and IT. Prior to this, his experience covered most aspects of technology and corporate management in the telecom sector, including corporate strategy, corporate finance, marketing, delivery of major change programmes, IT and ten years of cutting edge research in Materials Science where he published widely, including registering 15 patents. David is both a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Physicist, and studied Natural Sciences at Trinity College Cambridge, specialising in Theoretical Physics. He obtained his PhD from Edinburgh University, working across Materials Science and Engineering.

His sector knowledge and experience extends across professional services; logistics and distribution; agriculture and primary production; high technology; community services; and, to a lesser extent, health, education and government. Peter lives in New Zealand but has travelled extensively to speak and advise leaders who want to realise the potential of their organisations. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, and he holds memberships in several European and International corporate governance institutes. He is currently finalising his doctoral thesis on boards and the influence they can have on business performance. His wife is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Hanna's expertise is based in health behaviour change; developed through her MSc in health psychology and 5 years delivery experience as a workplace wellbeing practitioner. Hanna has the evidence-based SHU Wellness service in university and NHS settings and has consequently worked with a wide range of clients. In addition to delivery expertise, Hanna has comprehensive operational, business and theoretical expertise on workplace wellbeing programmes. Specifically, Hanna enables initial engagement, training, set-up and delivery of the service across all employment sectors.
  • 10. #ILNsymposium SIR ANDREW CASH Chief Executive, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Sir Andrew is Chief Executive of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest NHS foundation trusts in England with an annual budget in excess of £1BN and 16,000 staff. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded the independently assessed “Hospital of the Year” three times in the last six years. Andrew was the founding Chair of the Foundation Trust Network (FTN) and has undertaken three spells in the Department of Health, England – the most recent a secondment for a year as a Director General for developing health service providers. He is a visiting Professor in Leadership and Development at the Universities of Sheffield and York. He chairs the NHS Employers Policy Board, is Deputy Chair of the NHS Confederation, is a member of the Innovation, Health and Wealth Implementation Board and is the Chair of the Shelford Group which are the top ten university hospitals in England. He was appointed an OBE in 2001 and knighted in 2009 for services to the National Health Service.
  • 11. #ILNsymposium PROFESSOR DEAN FATHERS Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Dean became Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in January 2011. Alongside his duties in the NHS, Dean is also a Professor in Practice of Healthcare Management at Cass Business School, a Professorial Fellow with the Institute of Mental Health, Vice Chair of the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network and Chair of the Steering Group: National evaluation review of Schwartz Round Centres, King’s College, London. He is Chair of Smartgate Solutions and a Senior Independent Director of both JRI Orthopaedics and Higos Insurance, and a Non Executive Director of Finegreen Prior to becoming Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Dean chaired NHS Bassetlaw, had a period as a Non Executive Director on South Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority and has also chaired Doncaster Health Authority. Dean has a strong interest in leadership/development as well as governance and has consequently held roles on the NHS’s National Training Group, chaired the East Midlands SHA’s Learning and Development Board, was a founder of the East Midlands Leadership Academy and also held Board roles on two Workforce Development Boards.
  • 12. #ILNsymposium JULIAN HARTLEY Chief Executive, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Julian joined Leeds Teaching Hospitals in October 2013, having previously worked as Managing Director of NHS Improving Quality - a national organisation set up to drive change and improvement across the NHS. Julian’s career in the NHS began as a general management trainee working in the North East of England. Following his training, he worked in a number of NHS management posts at hospital, health authority and regional level. His first Board Director appointment was at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust, where he was responsible for planning, operations and strategy. Julian led Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust (PCT) as Chief Executive for three years, where he took it to three star status, developed new Primary Care Centres and managed the PCT’s involvement in the Shipman Inquiry. From 2005 Julian was Chief Executive of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, seeing the Trust transform and go on to achieve major financial turnaround, secure Foundation Trust status and become one of the first Trusts in the country to meet 18-week targets. In addition, Julian chaired the North West Leadership Academy. Julian was appointed Chief Executive of University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust in June 2009 and led a major turnaround in MRSA reduction, A&E and 18 week performance. He also introduced a major programme of cultural change to improve patient experience and outcomes.
  • 13. #ILNsymposium RICHARD STUBBS Commercial Director, Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network Richard is the Commercial Director of the AHSN with responsibility for executive leadership on the commercial, industry, economic growth and wealth creation aspects of Y&H AHSN’s overall programme of work. Prior to this Richard was Head of Commercial and International Innovation at NHS England. His role involved developing national programmes that maximise benefits to patients and the NHS, in addition to supporting UK economic growth agenda, by promoting and facilitating commercial opportunities, both domestically and internationally. Before joining NHS England Richard was the Managing Director for NHS Global, a UK body established to support the delivery of health care expertise to international markets. NHS Global worked closely with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to deliver services and expertise globally by harnessing the powerful collaboration of NHS and commercial sector partnerships. This led to the creation of a joint unit called Healthcare UK which was formally launched in January 2013. Richard was also Programme Director for the NHS Innovation Challenge Prizes at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, a role that involved improving the culture of innovation in NHS organisations. Prior to joining the NHS Institute in April 2010 Richard was Associate Director of Corporate Strategy at Derbyshire County PCT with the lead responsibility for delivering the World Class Commissioning agenda. He was also a participant on the first cohort of the Top Talent Breaking Through Programme. Richard represented emerging NHS leaders as a core member of the NHS National Leadership Council and is also a member of the NHS Health and Well-being Scrutiny Panel. Richard joined the NHS in 2002 through the national Graduate Management Scheme and has previously worked in numerous sectors, including the acute sector as Head of Business Development at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Prior to joining the NHS Richard worked in the media, predominantly in TV and radio production at the BBC and Granada TV.
  • 14. #ILNsymposium KEVIN KIELY Chief Executive, Medilink YH and NW, International Executive Medilink UK Kevin is the founder and CEO of Medilink, a professional association and specialist consultancy for the Life Science sector. It brings together in a formal partnership at a regional level, the NHS, business and academia, to enhance the competiveness of the UK Life Science Industry and improve patient care. Kevin leads on Medilink’s innovation service provision. He has 20 years’ experience of facilitating and fast tracking new product developments; successfully converting clinical need and new technology advancements into commercially available solutions. He is a Council member of the Royal Society of Medicines ‘New Technologies in Medicines Council’ and a technology assessor for various UK government funding agencies. Kevin also leads on Medilink’s international services, and in this capacity facilitates international initiatives and represents government agencies at major events across the world. He has signed MOUs for cooperation and exchange in trade, technology transfer and R&D with China and Brazil’s largest medical device trade associations. He sits on major national committees and supports integrated service delivery through partnership working with key national and regional organisations such as Innovate UK, UKTI, Healthcare UK, AHSNs and Local Enterprise Partnerships.
  • 15. #ILNsymposium CAROL ARIES Head of Strategic Partnerships, 3M Carol has a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Business Economics from Southampton University and an MBA from the Open University. Carol has 26 year experience working in the medical devices industry including a variety of roles in Sales and Marketing Management for both the UK and European markets and in Strategic Business Development. Carol is also a qualified Six Sigma Black Belt. In 2013 Carol completed a 12 month secondment to the Department of Health working in the Innovations Division supporting the implementation of the Department of Health Innovation, Health and Wealth strategy. Carol is currently Head of Strategic Partnerships for 3M Health Care responsible for developing business relationships with Government and Policy influencing bodies in the Health Care arena
  • 16. #ILNsymposium PROFESSOR CHRISTINE MOFFATT CBE FRCN PHD MA RGN DN Professor of Clinical Nursing Research at the University of Nottingham School of Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy Christine is Professor of Clinical Nursing Research at the University of Nottingham School of Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy and holds other visiting chairs at the University of Glasgow and Cardiff University Medical School Wound Healing Institute. She is also nurse consultant at the Royal Derby Foundation NHS Trust Lymphoedema service in which she leads a research team as well as undertaking a clinical consultancy role. Christine is currently joint Chair person and Director of the International Lymphoedema Framework (with Professor Neil Piller) She has been involved in wound healing research and practice for 25 years and Lymphoedema for 10 years. She has undertaken extensive research in this field using mixed research methods including running national and international clinical trials. Her areas of research include compression therapy; service development and evaluation; psychosocial impact of disease; chronic wounds and lymphoedema. She has presented and published internationally. She was awarded a CBE in the 2006 New Year’s Honours List and made a life fellow of the Royal College of Nursing that same year. She has received several life time achievement awards in recognition of her work, the most recent being presented by the World Union of Wound Healing Societies in June 2008. In December 2008 she received a Nursing Times Diamond 20 Award as one of the 20 most influential nurses in the last 60 years.
