4. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THIS WORKSHOP
• Purpose: This is a professional development workshop for teachers that will
provide an introduction digital communication with parents and other
stakeholders in the school setting.
• Objectives:
• Participants will understand the value of utilizing digital technology to
communicate with stakeholders
• Participants will create their own blog to share what is happening in their
classroom with stakeholders
5. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO ENGAGE PARENTS AND
OTHER STAKEHOLDERS?
• School in the 21st Century is an ever changing world. Since the wide spread
adoption of smart phones more people than ever before have access to the
internet. With this connectivity it is important that we engage parents and other
stakeholders through this new communication avenue.
• Students, especially young students, are forgetful and will inevitably forget to give
their parents important handouts and flyers. Utilizing a blog for your classroom
allows you to post important information easily and have it sent directly to the
parents phone.
6. INTRODUCTION TO CREATING A WIX SITE
• Go to www.wix.com
• Create a profile using whatever email and password you would like, I suggest
your school email.
