Sylvia Tan
Sylvia is a business consultant with over
20 years of financial, legal, technical and
business analysis experience.
Sylvia specialises in facilitating robust and holistic decision making
through the re-examining facts to understand trends and gaps,
generating fresh insights, integrating these into and capitalising on
existing materials. She helps develop holistic sustainable solutions
integrating technical and commercial aspects. She manages and
galvanizes multiple stakeholders through deep appreciation for
competing interests by steering teams to consider situations via
appropriate multiple perspectives to unearth the optimal solutions.
Sylvia had also pioneered many new and innovative paths while “on
the jobs” which were subsequently adopted as mainstream processes.
She has worked in multiple languages, with cross-functional,
geographically distributed and culturally diverse teams on projects in
China, Asia, North & South America, United Kingdom, and throughout
Australia.
Throughout her career, Sylvia has been a trusted advisor, mentor,
facilitator and team member to Boards, Management and Project
teams. She has held roles as Executive, operations leaders, internal
and external consultant to international organisations including: Rio
Tinto, Alcoa (USA), Hatch Associates (USA & Singapore), ASG
Consultants (Singapore), Creative Technology Limited (Singapore &
USA) and several commercial law firms in Singapore. Sylvia has
presented before Company Boards, management teams, corporate
graduate programs and undergraduates on various topics including:
Strategy, Corporate Governance, Commercial & Business Analysis,
Market Analysis, Change Management, Business Improvement,
Managerial Resilience and Team Leadership.
Her diverse experience came from several industries including;
Mining, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing & Metal, New Technologies,
Professional Services, Education, Training and Not-For-Profit.
Sylvia’s eclectic and global career include Board positions for
international organisations such as ASG Consultants (Managing
Director) and Samsung Singapore (Company Secretary).
Sylvia’s international qualifications include: MBA and LLB (Hons). She
also holds post-graduate certificates in Change Management and
Negotiation.
