3. CURRICULUM
Derived form a Latin root word ”Currere” which means “racecourse”.
Curriculum could be defined in two Concepts ,i.e. a narrow concept and a broader concept.
In terms of a narrow concept , Curriculum is a set of subjects or programs of studies.
In terms of a broader concept, Curriculum is a series of experiences undergone by a learner
under the supervision of a teacher or school.

All the learning which is planned and guided by the school, whether it is carried on in groups
or individually inside or outside the school.
4. CONCEPT OF CURRICULUM CHANGE
“Curriculum Change” is making the curriculum different in
someway in giving it a new position or direction.
Alteration in curriculum`s philosophy by way of its aims and objectives.
Reviewing and revising its content and methods included.
Rethinking its evaluation procedures.
It includes both planned and unplanned changes.
It can occur at the level of classroom, school or whole education system.
5. ‘Innovation’ is the process of implementing new ideas to create value for
an organization.
“Curriculum innovation” means all the deliberate actions to improve a
learning environment by adopting a method of presenting material to
students that involves human interaction ,hands on activities and student
feedback.e.g,
Flipped classroom approach
Inquiry based learning
Simulation games
Digital content libraries
Social media for collaborative learning

6. IMPORTANCE OF CURRICULUM CHANGE
AND INNOVATION
It promotes critical thinking and problem-solving attitudes in students.
It provide them the necessary tools to tackle the challenges of their future
workplace.
It provide them with a good sense of adaptability.
It promotes higher order of learning instead of traditional lower order of
learning in students.
