mission.
CLINEXEL is a Clinical Research Organization
(CRO) that provides Clinical Research,
Pharmacovigilance, and Medical Writing services to
pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device
companies.
CLINEXEL’s mission is to serve the patients by
expediting clinical development of new medicines
by applying global standards of clinical research &
safety monitoring.
Vision of CLINEXEL is to become the CRO partner
of choice for pharma, biotech and medical device
companies to provide efficient clinical development
and pharmacovigilance services.
What were the constraints you faced
while starting with the company?
I am satisfied with CLINEXEL’s journey so far. We
received good response from the market and worked
with more than twenty Clients in last two years and
receiving repeat business.
I have worked in the leadership positions in
the pharma industry for almost two decades,
and successfully set up the function for pharma
companies. Our team at CLINEXEL has good
understanding of standard industry practices,
evolving regulations and challenges in the field. It is
going well, and we are growing and scaling up.
What services do you provide to the
customers?
At CLINEXEL, we provide end to end Clinical
Research services starting from preparation of
protocols to clinical study report writing. We
prepare IND/ CTAs dossiers and documents for
the regulatory approvals. In study management,
CLINIXEL has good connect with KOLs and clinical
sites and we provide site selection, site monitoring
and data management services.
Through our partners, we conduct Global Clinical
Trial services in all major geographical regions of the
world.
CLINEXEL provides full Pharmacovigilance services,
including case processing, regulatory reporting,
periodic reports, risk management plans, signal
detection and management, literature monitoring,
preparation and maintenance of Pharmacovigilance
Systems Master File (PSMF) and QPPV services for
all countries globally.
CLINEXEL is also strong in device and drug device
combination product development. We are writing
Clinical Evaluation Reports (CERs) and preparing
and executing Post Marketing clinical Follow-
up (PMCF) Plans for the medical devices for CE
marking for Europe and approvals in Australia.

Strong technical expertise and industry experience
of the team are our strengths. We provide end to end
clinical research and pharmacovigilance support,
high quality work and ensuring compliance with the
timelines.
CLINEXEL is earning a unique position in the CRO
industry. There is some competition. Our rich global
experience and solid understanding of pharma
(Clients) needs is our strengths, this has helped
CLINEXEL to acquire more than 20 clients in two
years.
In addition to clinical trial execution, medical
writing and pharmacovigilance, CLINEXEL is
helping companies to develop efficient Clinical
Development Plans in discussion with USFDA,
MHRA and CDSCO. In 2020-21, we have been able
to negotiate innovative efficient approaches for First
in Man study with FDA and European agencies and

they understand the challenges faced by the
team and the Clients and can provide effective
technical solutions.
Rapid developments are happening in our speciality,
there are evolving regulatory requirements, new
knowledge about diseases and drugs as well several
new/ enhanced IT solutions to support Clinical and
Pharmacovigilance functions. Our leaders are well
aware of these developments and provide the most
current and relevant solutions to the Clients and can
deliver effective technical solutions.
Tell us about any challenges you are
facing currently
We miss our time together in the office due to
the COVID situation’s imposed lockdown. I miss
meeting team members, partners, and industry
colleagues in person now that we have shifted to a
virtual office and meetings to reduce risk.
What is your strategy to reach new
industries and new customers?
High quality of work, customized services as per the
Client needs and repeat business is our key strategy.

by existing clients. A
significant percentage of
our business is repeat business.
Pharma is small world, and our
strategy is to deliver high quality results
at efficient costs.
Ecosystem in India is conducive to clinical
research. I want to highlight, since the New Drugs &
Clinical Trials Regulations (NDCTR) went into effect
in 2019, regulatory approval timelines and processes
are further streamlined. We have multiple positive
experiences with CDSCO office during SEC meetings
and other interactions. We have received NOC (CT-
06) to conduct first in man clinical trials from the
CDSCO office in less than a month time. Company
aims to become the partner of choice for mid-size
pharma and medical device companies by providing
clinical research & medical support.
In Pharmacovigilance, we have a unique model of
providing end to end services for small and mid-size
pharma along with our safety database partners in a
cost-effective manner to achieve pharmacovigilance
compliance and success in pharmacovigilance
inspections.
Can you give me an example of how the
company has a diverse workforce?
The CLINEXEL team has a combined expertise of
over 100 years.
Our technical team consists of certified healthcare
experts, including MDs and pharmacists, who have
extensive clinical and pharmacovigilance experience.
CLINEXEL Team has experience in various
therapeutic areas, for examples, oncology, rare
disorders, diabetes, respiratory, dermatology and
on different therapeutics including new chemical
entities, biologicals, and generic drugs. Team
includes young professional, as well as experienced
staff from diverse backgrounds.

company.
Dr Deepa Arora, the CLINEXEL’s Founder and
Director, has over 20 years of expertise in the
pharmaceutical sector in Pharmacovigilance and
Clinical Research. She has worked in worldwide
leadership roles in significant pharma businesses as
a physician (MBBS, MD).
Dr Arora is well-versed in the commercial
needs of regulated and semi-regulated markets
and can help CLINEXEL clients build bespoke,
tailor made solutions for Clinical Research and
Pharmacovigilance activities.

We set-up capabilities and world class systems for
Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance within

A business leader is a goal-driven personality
with sufficient knowledge of the relevant market,
consumer demands, supply chain, socio-
economic factors, legislation, technological
advancement, political influences, environment,
and demographics to successfully guide a group
of people in his company to fulfill one common
objective.
He has to maintain the integrity of his firm
by ensuring internal co-operation and labor

the end-users benefit from an economic activity
executed by his employees. He needs to set effective
protocols for his staff to follow in the wake of
unprecedented adversity.
The importance of Emotional
Intelligence in Business Leadership
Although many theories of business leadership
focus on the goal-driven managerial skills of the
leader,yetonlyafewtheoriesfocusonhisemotional
intelligence. Just like Artificial Intelligence requires
an algorithm for execution, human beings require
a set of protocols for executing particular tasks. For
example, once a person learns how to enter data
into particular software, he will execute the same at
a faster rate the next time he receives data. However,
the rate-limiting factors in the execution of these
tasks are emotions. For example, A person who is
emotionally overwhelmed by anxiety will propel
themselves towards finishing a task promptly to
avoid the confrontation with a possible error they

of mind, human errors do tend to get neglected
by the perpetrator. An emotionally intelligent
business leader can recognize such emotions to the
grass-roots level and positively act upon them. He
will not intimidate an already anxious person as he
understands that the sole bearer of his actions will
be the business.
An effective business leader neither reprimands an
anxious employee nor intimidates them but rather
motivates them through positive reinforcement.
In the above-mentioned example, an emotionally
intelligent business leader will often lay out buffers
for the committed errors without necessarily
demotivating the person and at the same time give
momentary breaks or uncomplicated tasks for the
person to revive. Thus, his emotional intelligence
relies solely on the concept of empathy, the urgency
of thought, and an understanding of his emotional
capabilities. Differences in emotional capabilities
are often the reason for the rift between CHRO and
CEO in a company. In most companies, CHROs
manage human resources algorithmically rather
than smartly. While they feel disempowered to
apply emotional intelligence for HR, CEOs are
entitled are to use their emotional understanding
for altering the dynamics of an organization
provided it is non-discriminatory.
Buffering is the art of amplifying the resilience of
an association (in this case, a group of employees)
through momentary re-assortment of effort
amongst the constituent individuals in response to
unavoidable individual emotional inconsistencies,
with importance placed more on emotional
compensation than financial compensation.
The individuals that need buffering are called
headliners. In the previously mentioned example,

The laser beams, which are visible in a dark environment
due to a little quantity of smoke, provide visual direction
to the user, reducing the difficulty of using a piece of non-
contact equipment while also increasing an appealing
optical impression. To make pitch alterations, the device
uses several sharp distance sensors to track the position
of the user’s hand. To acquire the required pitch, the user
needs to move his or her hand to various heights. To play

Tea Statistics of India
India produces the world’s second-largest amount of tea.
India is the world’s top user of black tea, as well. In total,
973millionkilogramsofteawasconsumedinthedomestic
market in 2016-17. India is ranked fourth in the world
in terms of tea exports, with an export value of $785.92
million in 2017-18. Russian Federation (48.1 million kg),
Iran (31.19 million kg), and UAE were the leading export
customers in terms of volume in 2017-18. Iran ($120.82
million), Russian Federation ($120.59 million), and the
United Arab Emirates ($66.33 million) were the leading
export markets in terms of value. Orthodox/green and
instant tea contribute 11% of the total tea output of India.
In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, tea production was 1,325.05
million kg. North India produced around 1,087.11
million kg, whereas South India produced approximately
233.65 million kg. According to data from December
2015, India has around 566.66 thousand hectares of tea-
growing land. Assam (307.08 million hectares), West
Bengal (140.44 million hectares), Tamil Nadu (69.62
million hectares), and Kerala (69.62 million hectares)
are the leading tea producers (35.01 thousand hectares).
Tea is India’s second-largest employment, according to
estimates.
Due to strong geographical indications, significant
investments in tea processing equipment, ongoing
innovation, and strategic market growth, Indian tea is
among the best in the world. Northeast India (including
Assam) and North Bengal are the primary tea-growing
regions.
Constraints
Several issues are preventing this business from realising
its full potential. Over the last ten years, production costs
have increased at double the rate of inflation. Prices have
remained stable in the Rs 125-132/kg band for the past
five years, making the market unprofitable for growers.
However, with customized innovation for tea drinkers,
half of this problem will be solved.
Organic tea production as an emerging
venture
Organicteaproductionisanewconceptthatencompasses
tea production without the use of pesticides or other
chemicals. The production is entirely based on natural
fertilizers. The future of organic tea production appears
to be brighter after the advent of small-scale tea planting
in Assam. All Assam tea estates that have been producing
teas are non-organic. As there are so many non-organic
tea farms nearby, it’s tough merely to create an organic
tea garden. Chemical fertiliser or pesticide dispersals, as
well as chemical agents interfused in the soil from the
surrounding region, might penetrate the organic garden.

Baruah
For the past 20 years, he has held different managerial
positions with Mcleod Russel India Limited, the country’s

state, he came across many small tea growers who were
producing great teas in their tiny units but struggling
to find the proper market for their product. He earned
a B.Sc. in Anthropology from Cotton College and then
went on to complete a Hotel Management degree at
IHM in Guwahati, where he worked for a few years. In
1999, he was offered a position at Williamson Magor Tea
Ltd. Throughout a 20-year career, he progressed from
Management Trainee to Dy. Manager. During his work
at the tea gardens and factory, he was able to learn about
tea manufacture, production, and tasting. I also took a
course at IIM Rohtak, which assisted him in grasping the
nuances of the business.
He started AROMICA to assist small tea producers in
finding a good market and a fair price for their teas, as
well as providing something lovely to tea enthusiasts all
around the world.

The first wave of COVID 19 greatly affected the real
estate sector as there was the restricted movement
of people and goods all over the country. The
second wave came as a severe shock to a sector
that had made such an amazing comeback from
the coronavirus outbreak in 2020.
Due to intermittent lockdowns and other localized
limits imposed by the government to contain the
virus’ spread, there has been a drop in property
purchases, new project debuts, and commercial
rentals.
The sector’s recovery from the COVID -19 crisis
will be slow and difficult. For the successful
resurrection, demand has to be increased.
Resurrection after the second wave
However, two main quadrants of Indian real
estate are moving on the path to recovery after
the second wave. While the residential quadrant
experienced healthy growth, the office segment
remained lagging.
The graphs for both residential and office segments
had curved up from the troughs of the lockdown-
induced June 2020 quarter. Sales of houses in
tier-I and tier-II cities registered strong growth.
This was driven by factors such as a cut in stamp
duty by some states (Maharashtra and Karnataka),
low home-loan rates, and discounts from builders
on top of static or declining prices.
Real Estate in the Aftermath of
a Global Pandemic

The growth figures provided by the key research
firms are different, given differences in their
coverage. For the March 2021 quarter, Anarock
put it at 29% comparing last year’s statistics with
this year’s statistics whereas Knight Frank put it at
44%. But both figures indicate that the residential
sector is recovering, and has witnessed higher
sales than in the pre-pandemic period.
While the trend in the office market is positive,
growth remains a long way off. Net absorptions
(new space taken up minus old space given up)
were 36 percent lower in the quarter ending March
2021 at Jones Lang LaSalle, and 49 percent lower
at Cushman & Wakefield.
Stability in Prices
It’s been a buyer’s market for the past year. While
unsold homes are abundant, including a significant
pool of ready homes with lower ownership
risks, six of the seven major markets have either
remained steady or dropped in price. According
to data from real estate portal 99acres.com, prices
in 30 percent of the 537 areas it tracks throughout
these seven markets fell in the March 2021 quarter
compared to the March 2020 quarter. The price
increase was only up to 5% for the remaining 43%
of areas.

Through our partners, we conduct Global Clinical Trial services in all major geographical regions of the world. Tell us about any challenges you are facing currently We miss our time together in the office due to the COVID situation’s imposed lockdown. I miss meeting team members, partners, and industry colleagues in person now that we have shifted to a virtual office and meetings to reduce risk. What is your strategy to reach new industries and new customers? High quality of work, customized services as per the Client needs and repeat business is our key strategy. CLINEXEL is getting business through recommendations by existing clients. A significant percentage of our business is repeat business. I want to highlight, since the New Drugs & Clinical Trials Regulations (NDCTR) went into effect in 2019, regulatory approval timelines and processes are further streamlined.
