4. JOINT PAIN
Joints form the connections
between bones. They provide
support and help you move.
Any damage to the joints from
disease or injury can interfere
with your movement and
cause a lot of pain.
Indication
Many different conditions can lead to painful joints, including osteoarthritis,
rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, gout, strains, sprains, and other injuries.
5. Arthritis
Typically, pain, aching, stiffness
and swelling in and around one
or more joints characterize
rheumatic conditions. The
symptoms can develop gradually
or suddenly. Certain rheumatic
conditions can also involve the
immune system and various
internal organs of the body.
The term "arthritis" is used to
describe numerous rheumatic
diseases and conditions that
affect joints.
Indication
6. Spondylitis
Spondylosis literally means stiffening
or fixation of the bony building blocks
of the spine (vertebrae) as the result of
a disease process. Spondylosis refers
to degenerative changes in the spine
such as bone spurs and degenerating
intervertebral discs. Spondylosis
changes in the spine are frequently
referred to as osteoarthritis.
Indication
For example, the phrase "spondylosis of the lumbar spine" means degenerative
changes such as osteoarthritis of the vertebral joints and degenerating
intervertebral discs (degenerative disc disease) in the low back. Spondylosis can
occur in the cervical spine (neck), thoracic spine (upper and mid back), or lumbar
spine (low back).
7. Cervical and
lumber spondylosis
Spondylosis (pronounced – spon – di – lo – sis )
is a degenerative condition of the spine vertebral
joints. It is also commonly known as Cervical
Spondylosis or Lumbar Spondylosis when it
occurs in the neck and lower back respectively.
Primarily as result of a wear-and-tear of the
bones and cartilage, the space between two
spinal vertebrae narrows with spondylosis. It is
this narrowing of the space that leads of the
sensation of pain and numbness. As the space
between the vertebrae narrows, it impinges on
the nerve root emerging from the spine at the
location. Depending on the location of the nerve
root, pain may be felt down the arm or legs
Indication
8. Low Backache
Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of problems with any parts of
the complex, interconnected network of spinal muscles, nerves, bones,
discs or tendons in the lumbar spine. Typical sources of low back pain
include:
Indication
• The large nerve roots in the low back that go to the legs may be irritated
• The smaller nerves that supply the low back may be irritated
• The large paired lower back muscles (erector spinae) may be strained
• The bones, ligaments or joints may be damaged
• An intervertebral disc may be degenerating
An irritation or problem with any of these structures
can cause lower back pain and/or pain that radiates
or is referred to other parts of the body. Many lower
back problems also cause back muscle spasms,
which don't sound like much but can cause severe
pain and disability.
9. Sprains and
Strains
Indication
Sprains and strains are
common injuries that share similar
signs and symptoms, but involve
different parts of your body.A
sprain is a joint injury that
involves tearing of the ligaments
and joint capsule. A strain is an
injury to muscle or tendons. First
aid includes rest, ice, compression
with bandages and elevation
(RICE).
Initial treatment for both sprains and strains includes rest, ice, compression and
elevation. Mild sprains and strains can be successfully treated at home. Severe
sprains and strains sometimes require surgery to repair torn ligaments, muscles
or tendons.
