Documents in Class Announcements: Your instructor has uploaded a PowerPoint presentation which is a great guide containing tips and tricks as to how to put together an excellent PowerPoint slide presentation. For those of you who choose the PowerPoint presentation option for the final project you will find this guide to be useful.
Discussions: In your discussions this week we are examining some of them are advancing concepts of informatics such as the use of simulation programs and simulation technologies in healthcare. Additionally, we are exploring the global initiative is happening with regards to eHealth and the advancements of electronic medical record systems in both developed and underdeveloped countries.
Chapter 36 Case Study: Trends in Informatics
Formulate a paper addressing trends in health informatics using the address the following prompts:
· Discuss the benefits and challenges of simulation technology as a technology trend.
· Given future directional trends in informatics discussed in Chapter 36 of your text such as nanotechnology, predictive analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), select a trend that you view to be most important to our society today. Provide a rationale for your choice.
· Analyze the Health Information Technology Governance Activities and Processes summery discussed in Chapter 29 of your text (Box 29.1). Reflecting on your Ashford University major of study, discuss how an organizational leader in health care and/or health and human services would use these activities to prioritize informatics projects related to implementing an informatics trend discussed in Chapter 36.
Your paper should be two to three pages in length, excluding the title and reference pages and formatted according to APA guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. In addition to the textbook, utilize a minimum of two scholarly sources to support your position.
Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
Final Project:
Hint: As discussed in Week 3, this is not a project you can tackle on Day 7 at 11:00 PM. If you have not begun your final project as of the beginning of Week 5 you must to do so immediately to do the appropriate level of research on your topic. Please do not wait until the end of Week 5 to begin this final project. The research phase alone will take you several hours prior to putting together your video or PowerPoint presentation. I strongly suggest you review the project early in the week; you have time to ask any questions. I check the course and the email once a day.

The four- to five-minute presentation should be set up as a staff
educational session on your selected topic.
Your presentation must:
· The four to five-minute presentation should be set up as a staff
educational session on your selected topic.
· Define your topic and explain its relevance to health
informatics.
· Describe any ethical issues associated with your topic.
· Describe any associated laws, regulations, or voluntary
standards relevant to the topic.
· Explain how the topic relates to or impacts health care
delivery, administration, education, data administration or
research.
· Summarize associated data capture tools and technol ogies.
· Describe a specific example of your topic in use in health
care.
References: Include five scholarly references, in addition to the
textbook, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the

6. Prepare a four to five minute audio-visual presentation or a
PowerPoint of at least 10 to 15 slides on one health informatics
topic from the provided list.
Topic
During this course we explore many different components of
health informatics. Pick a topic of interest to you to prepare
your audio-visual presentation. Your presentation should reflect
new information and not recap information learned in this
course or another course.
Step 1: Choose one topic from the following list:
· Evidence-based practice and informatics
· Telehealth
· Public health informatics
· The evolving ePatient
· International efforts, issues and innovations related to
informatics
· Simulation in health care
· Analytics and design-led innovations and management
· Big data: challenges, opportunities, and realities
· Incorporating mobile devices and sensors into daily routines
· The potential impact for mHealth is enormous; an individual
might spend 15 minutes or less per year with a primary-care
physician, whereas the same person has nearly constant contact
with a mobile device.
· Applying clinical care guidelines on, and within, mobile
platforms
· Gathering and using data, particularly intensive longitudinal
data, to study effectiveness of an mHealth intervention
· Consumer informatics
· Applications of social media in health care
· Biomedical applications based on sensor data
· Chronic disease management and preventative solutions
Content

· Must use speakers notes as follows:
· Review the PowerPoint Speaker Notes. (Links to an external

· Speaker notes are the typed notes that appear below the slide
that complement the presentation slides. Whereas the slides will
have short bulleted items, the speaker notes will be more
detailed. They are essentially what the presenter would say
during the presentation to explain each of the bulleted points on
the slide. Therefore, it is important that the speaker notes are
concise and detailed when explaining the bullet points.
· It is recommended that PowerPoint Slides contain no more
than five bullet points and should not contain more than seven
to 10 words each. Do not type paragraphs or long sentences on
the slide. The information that explains each bullet point is
conveyed via speaker notes or by recording your voice to each
slide.
14. PowerPoint Presentation Best Practices
What is Present.me?
Follow these steps to prepare a professional-looking PowerPoint
presentation.
Step 1: Decide what the main point of your presentation will
be. Before you begin your PowerPoint presentation, you
need to figure out what the main point of your presentation will
be. Your main point will be the idea that is the
backbone of your presentation, and which all of the other
information will support. This is your thesis statement.
Step 2: Condense your information. Once you determine what
your thesis statement will be, you need to take all of
the information you have compiled and condense it. You only
need to include the most important points, otherwise
your presentation will be too long or rambling.
Step 3: Plan out your presentation. Once you know what your
main point will be, you need to plan out the structure of
your presentation. Plan out what information will be presented,
and in what order. Outline your presentation, and your
speech as well. The structure of your presentation should be
15. similar to a final paper assignment, and should include
your thesis, evidence to support your thesis, and a conclusion.
Step 4: Streamline your text. Do not use your slides to simply
restate what you are saying. Your slides should be used
to support what you saying in your presentation. Never read
from your slides! In fact, you should aim to have as little
text as possible! Keep the amount of text to a minimum, and
present it in ways that are easy to follow.
Step 5: Use informative graphics. Graphics should be a way to
convey information to your audience that might be
difficult to describe in words. Use graphs and charts,
Step 5: Do not use unnecessary sounds or visuals. Do not
include unnecessary visual or audio components. Things like
sound effects or background images distract the audience and
add nothing to the presentation.
Step 6: Practice makes perfect! Practice your presentation to
be sure that your speech fits well with the slides, and
that your presentation meets the time limits.
Tips for a great presentation:
