Address TextCarrier Management IsA Core Sunteck Strength• There are currently about 10,000 brokers in the freight industry.• Unfortunately, some brokers double-broker their freight rather thantaking the time to find a quality carrier to move the freight.• As a Top 15 broker, Sunteck has a large enough base ofresources to get the job done and we disapprove of this practice. It adds unnecessary expense to the cost of moving freight.• We currently have nearly 8,000 carriers in ACTIVE status, whichmeans we have a highly qualified universe of carriers to move yourfreight. And we did this more than 150,000 times last year!
Address TextCarrier Qualification Process• Test for validated credentials Operating authority -– FMCSA DOT safety rating -- SaferSys Proper insurance -- RMIS• Receive current insurance certificate from carrier (if needed) and signedBroker/Carrier Agreement• Monitor industry watchdog sites for complaints• Internal scoring mechanism on performance (combination of the aboveplus Sunteck’s own experience with the carrier; i.e. 5-Star, 4-Star, etc.)When a carrier meets this litmus test, then and onlythen are they qualified to haul for Sunteck.
Address TextQuality Recognition Program For Carriers• Now in its fifth year, Q-Star is Sunteck’s initiative for improved motor carrier qualityperformance.• For carriers to be considered for inclusion in the program, they must meet severalcriteria: Moving freight for Sunteck on a regular basis Have maintained a satisfactory DOT safety record Have active operating authority and insurance permits in place Have no unresolved or delinquent claims with Sunteck Have current broker agreements on file and have received no negativeperformance reports.• Carriers will remain as Q-Star preferred service providers as long as they maintainthe standards set by the program. Additional carriers are added each quarter.• Key benefit to the carrier is they are the only transportation providers grantedaccess to Sunteck’s live carrier load board. These carriers are given an ID andpassword to gain visibility to all loads that Sunteck is moving, not just those loadsthat may be posted on the commercial load boards. This access allows Q-Starcarriers to bid on loads before they become more widely available for transport.
Address TextPrimary Truck Brokers Liability Insurance• All shipments moved by Sunteck are covered by a $2 million PrimaryTruck Broker Liability Insurance (PTBLI) policy. It covers our use of non-owned, hired motor vehicles to move brokered freight.• PTBLI is a significant addition to our risk management strategy. It coverslosses (personal injury and property casualty) that occur involving aSunteck-brokered motor carrier dispatched on a load by a Sunteckindependent agent.• For shippers concerned about risk management, the addition of thispolicy provides another layer of protection between the plaintiff and theshipper when a brokered load gets involved in a major accident resultingin a lawsuit.• As a Top 10 freight broker, we believe it is essential to protect ourselves, our agents and, ultimately, our customers in this manner. We believe ourcustomers will see our commitment to financial responsibility as a reasonto do business with Sunteck.
