2. MEANING OF PLANNING:-
It’s a first step of management. It concentrate on
sitting and achieving objectives of an
organization. It is deciding in advance what to do,
who to do it, when to do it and how to do it.
Planning clear the path from where we are to
where we want to go. It is an intellectual process.
It is characterized as a process of thinking before
doing. It is fully mental work.
3. DEFINITION OF PLANNING
According to ‘LOUIS A ALLEN’ management
planning involves the development of forecasts,
objectives, policies, procedure, schedules and
budgets.
According to ‘KOONTZ O DONELL’ planning is an
intellectual process, the concise determination
process of action, the passing of decision,
decision on purpose, acts and considered
estimates.
4. CHARACTERISTICS:-
(1). Planning is closely associated with th goals or
objectives of organization.
(2). Planning is mainly concerned with looking ahead
with feature. Forecasting provides the necessary raw
material for correct planning.
(3). It involves the selection of best alternatives.
(4).Planning is required at all levels of management,
it’s importance increase bottom to top management.
(5) .Planning is an interdependent process. It
coordinates the activities of various department
section and sub-section’s.
