ABSTRACT
Hepatopancreatic parvovirus infect Penaeus monodon cultured shrimp in India and
found in many part of the world.Genetic variation have been reported in HPV.hence Polymerase
chain reaction are primers specific for different geographical isolates of HPV have been developed
by various researches. In this study, the suitability of these primers was evaluated for their
suitability is detecting HPV strains infecting shrimp in India. The result of the study showed that
HPV primer designed based on Madagascar, Thailand and China strains of HPV are suitable for
detecting Indian strains of HPV.
