2. Binary Structuralism
Binary opposition is the contrast between two mutually concepts that
leads to conflict such as black and white.
For example, white British ideals are passed through media, regardless of
Ethnic minority groups.
Binary structuralism is often caused by stereotypes which are an
oversimplified definition of a person.
3. Age
With age youth are seen as trouble makers, violent and sometimes
clever but mainly unexperienced. They are unexperienced due to
the fact that they have not been living for such a long time.
The professionals are seen as the ones who hold power.
The old aged people are seen as ultra-conservative, old fashioned
and very experienced. They are very experienced due to the fact
that they having been living for a long time.
4. Race
EMG’S are seen as people who are prepared to obey at work due
to the fact that they are the ones who will be most likely desperate
for a job and to earn some money.
EMG’S are the one who are often involved in drugs, violence and
anti-social behaviour
EMG’S are aware that it will be very difficult for them to have a very
high social status at any place.
In society the white people are seen as the dominant people while
the black are sometimes seen as poor.
5. Class
There are 3 classes; Upper, Middle and Lower.
The upper class people are the rich wealthy people who usually tend to
talk and associate themselves with other rich wealthy people. They are
seen as the really educated people.
The middle class people are the ones who are not rich but they are not
poor which leaves them in the middle. This is the ideal class for the
population of the world today.
The lower class are the people who really struggle in society and are poor.
These are the people who are seen as highly uneducated.
6. Gender
Sexually Objectified to be sexual objects for “men”
“Women” are mostly subservient to men in both departments professional
and personal relationships.
7. Sexuality
Homosexuality is often presented as a ultra-feminine or ultra-masculine
depending on the gender.
The work roles are usually hospitality or industry based e.g. Designer, bar,
club ect.
Presented as a party boy lifestyle doing sexual activities, drugs and
partying .
8. Region
Regional are presented representations are often ignorant to the ideals of
main stream cultures
