Whosoever therefore
resisteth the power,
resisteth the
ordinance of God:
and they that resist
shall receive to
themselves
damnation
Whoever resists such
authority resists what
God has appointed.
and those that resist
will incur judgement
Romans 13:2 KJV Romans 13:2 TAW
8. I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me,
Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me.
I tremble to know that for me he was crucified,
That for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died.
Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me
Enough to die for me!
Oh, it is wonderful, wonderful to me!
HYMN 193
9. I marvel that he would descend
from his throne divine
To rescue a soul so rebellious and
proud as mine,
That he should extend his great love
unto such as I,
Sufficient to own, to redeem, and to
justify.
Oh, it is wonderful that he should
care for me
Enough to die for me!
Oh, it is wonderful,
wonderful to me!
10. I think of his hands pierced
and bleeding to pay the debt!
Such mercy, such love and
devotion can I forget?
No, no, I will praise and adore
at the mercy seat,
Until at the glorified throne I
kneel at his feet.
Oh, it is wonderful that he
should care for me
Enough to die for me!
Oh, it is wonderful, wonderful
to me
WELCOME to Come Follow Me
I'm very excited about today's lesson we roll into a new part of the NEW TESTAMENT
I need 5 volunteers – promise ot not embarrass you or anything, I just need you to stand here
Can anyone figure out how I arranged them this way?
The same way that bible arranged Paul's 14 Epistles--LENGTH
Paul's Epistles are represented here in the green Dark green denotes groups of people that he wrote to and the light green denotes individuals
Why is Hebrew not included up at the top with the other group EPISTLES?
There was a question as tot he authorship of Hebrews—saying perhaps Paul didn;t write it but Joseph Smith
makes refrenece to Hebrews and saying that Paul wrote this to the HEBREWS so with modern day revealation we know it is from him
If we were to break down the letter/epistles according to a chronological system it would fall 6 of his 14
Paul had been traveling on all of these missins establishing the church wherever he goes
we catch up with him in Romans during his second mission here with this purple color
It tells us in Romans that he is writing from Corinth—circled here
take note that up to this point he had not been to Rome yet
Paul's writing to the members of the church in Rome he gives them Little bits of Honey—Encouragement
we don't have any stories it just comes down to advice
Take a few minutes and review these chapters
and then I want people to share their little bits of honey from Paul that they found
Where did you find bits of Honey in Paul's teaching?
SHARE
This is my bit of Honey that I found– but I'm cheating a little bit because this is found in last weeks lesson
But I had to bring it up because I feel that it is a major message of Pauls letter to Rome
Do you ever use other translations of the Bilbe besides the KJV? Is it Okay
feel like we are cheating
I would like to go back to the good ole days when we used to sing together in here—
after these verses I would like to sing Hymn 193 together
I'll put the words up here if you can read them or follow along in the hymnbook
Sister Thorup will play for us
Think about the words as we sing them and what they mean to you.
There appears to be some disputauions about the interpretation of the old jewish law and he new Christian way of live and the difference between them
JUDGE NOT– great little video about not judging our neighbors
I love that in Romans we learn how this letter was delivered—a woman named Phebe was charged with delivering it to the Saints in Rome
I live that it says of her that she was a :succor of Many" she even assiated Paul
Makes me think of Sheri Dew
chapter 16 mentions 24 saints in various positions inRome 9 of those 24 are women
NExt week Paul writes to the Saints in Corinth– which was one of the ancient worlds most immoral and idolatrous citiites
What advice does he give to the members there?
UNITY
