“Obviously such varying
approaches have the great
advantage of presenting the
truths of salvation to people of
different cultures, backgrounds,
and experiences. But the simple
fact is that all of the gospel
authors wrote by inspiration, and
all had the same purposes: 1. To
testify of the divine Sonship of
our Lord; and 2. To teach the
truths of the plan of salvation”

Editor's Notes
Welcome to Sunday School—my name is Chris Ridges, I will be the Spokesman for our lesson today– remember from our last discussion we discussed each other's roles in Gospel learning– I pray that We can have the Holy Ghost in attendance with us TESTIFYING to our hearts
ANY Visitors today we would like to welcome you
Follow along on Slideshare.
We have a unique opportunity this year to extend the Holiday season by beginning the year with the birth of the Savior—
Which means extending the Food of the Holiday season which for me is my mother’s Homemade caramels
So I will pass these around which will hopefully bring us back to the warm feelings of the Holidays
Luke 2 is probably the most read verse in the bible--
To get us in the mood for sharing what we have learned in these chapters– I want to share a video from the LDS Bible series with music from one of my favorite Christmas songs– And then be ready to share something you learned in these chapters
Since we are studying in Luke and Matthew today let’s take a second and look at the gospels and how they connect
***OBJECT LESSON, asked 4 people that attended our ward Christmas party to write down what happened that night, do you think they are the same?
Bro. Jacobson—not in attendance
Bro. Suhanski—was there for the whole evening
Bro Bosworth—helped to plan the program
Bro Beecher– in attendance
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS OF THE SAVIOR’S LIFE?
Start by sharing what stood out to me in this reading of the lesson
How do you think Mary and Joseph felt along this journey?
How am I testifying of the Savior? What do we learn about worshipping and witnessing from these first Witnesses of the Savior?
AFTER the Wise men leave– joseph receives some revelation for his family—Let’s read it
What is the danger that Joseph is fleeing from? Herod trying to kill the prophesied Messiah
Chalkboard---What are we trying to protect our children from today?
When have you felt this paternal protection for your own family?
Have you seen divine positioning in your own life?
Alma the Elder literally praying an angel into his sons wayward life
I love this story of Jesus teaching in the temple—so real for parents, Can you imagine how they must have felt, losing the son of God for three days? The Father’s business of course was not carpentry—can be found in Moses 1:39
James E Talmage in JTC—revealed that he did have the veil of forgetfulness over him just as well all do but eventually things were revealed to him and by age 12 understood his role
Wouldn’t we love to have Mary’s account of his childhood
Very few words are said about the Savior’s young life—just a few lines cover 25 years
Why do you think we don’t have more of this time in his life?
“As we undertake our personal search for Jesus, it is fundamental that we have a clear concept of him whom we seek. The shepherds of old sought Jesus the child. But we seek Jesus the Christ, our Older Brother, our Mediator with the Father, our Redeemer, the Author of our salvation; he who was in the beginning with the Father; he who took upon himself the sins of the world and so willingly died that we might forever live. This is the Jesus whom we seek” I’ve included on the board again today the question What seek Ye? I hope this year as we study the NT that we can seek and find our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ– our one Redeemer, THE MESSIAH, in this name AMEN
I’m so thankful for an inspired Pophet,Seer and Revealator that has brought this program change to us;
I’m so looking forward to this year in the New Testament
