Have you ever been a part of some big event that made you jump up and shout for joy?
Sporting?
I’d like to share a time for me
We were living in Rexburg during the construction of the tremple– It was September 21—If you recall the day that Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith for the first time to giver him the good news of the gospel
Blustery day– worried about being able to place it that day– The whole twn had come to see it, even the 5 non-members came because it was the biggest thing to happen in that town.
Sun parted, clouds cleared and just as Moroni crowned the top of the steeple the whole crowd erupted in cheers and shouts
Somehow –we all started singing “The Spirit of God”
Great Spiritual experience
I was then 6 months later at the Hossanna shout
this lesson in Ezekiel will us understand some of the many ways the temple brings joy
Here’s a warning as we study Ezekiel—Rabis believe you should not be allowed to study Ezekiel until you are atleast 30 years od– so if some of you need to be excused—NOW IS THE TIME!!!
BACKGROUND
Love this reminder that even in exile when children of Israel refused to repent God still sends them a prophet to help and guide them– Never leaves them
We start with Ezekiel in chapter 43 and he is having an amazing vision/guided tour from an angel—much like Lehi had- interesting because they were probably contemporaries in Jerusalem before Lehi left, possibly knew eachother
Ezekiel id brought to the temple in this vision and we can learn a lot from what he says—
Break it up into 3 sections—
Tell me what you learn
Love this little 2 min video about bleesings of ther temple—Narrated by our now Prophet Russell M Nelson
What do you learn from the Temple?
WE are among the lucky saints that lives with a temple in our midst
Ezekiel was a High priest that worked in the temple in Jerusalem and shared with the people all that he learned—I’ve invited a High Priest that works in the Portland Temple to share with us his thoughts/testimony of the temple
Ezekiel’s temple vision continues– in chapter 47:1 He is brought to doors of a millennial temple to be buiult in jerusalem
What side of the temple did the water flow out from?
EASTside– did you know that most modern temples have this inscribed on the EAST side as well
We know that Solomon’s temple was inscribed with this as well but can’t have it confirmed in any other ancient temples
So in Ezekiels vision there is this river flowing from the east door of the temple extending out into the Judean deseret—anybody been there?
This isn’t just soe temple but an Millenial temple to built in Jeursalem
A lot of details are given about this millenial
The vision goes on to say what happens to the Judean deseeret as a result of this river flowing through it
Ezekiel is not the only one to have this type of vision right? Who else?
What are
Ezekiel’s temple vision continues with the angel escorting him into the river—let’s read Ezekiel 47:3-5
How can we relate this to experiences in the temple?
I Testify that just as the waters from the temple healed the Judean wilderness and the Dead Sea in Ezekiel’s vision, the gospel of Jesus Christ will heal and cleanse us if we will partake of it—He is the way and the life—partaking of his living water means we will not thirst again
I boldly testify of Him and his healing powers– In the Name of Jesus Christ AMEN
I’m kind of jealous of Bro Thayne’s last lesson with us next week– It is Daniel and Esther #45 “if I perish, I perish”
T
Two of my favorite people so if you have time to review those 2 stories in preparation next week I’m sure Bro Thayne would appreciate it
