Fire Warden Training – Importance and Need
Being a fire warden and living life like that is living like a courageous real hero who has guts and power to fight against any adverse situation related to fire. When a trained fire warden goes out on a street, people look at him as a person who is carrying a huge responsibility upon his shoulders. They all have expectations and belief that this particular person would value their life ahead of his own and never turn his back even in the greatest of calamities.
But such courageous persons are not created overnight. They pass through rigorous fire warden training, strict regimen and pass physical as well as mental examinations to be called a certified fire warden. Although the rules and regulation vary in different countries, but the basic course structure of fire warden training is almost the same. So, if you are really impressed with the life of a fire warden and want to experience it, be ready to shed lots of sweat and blood in some of the toughest weeks of your life that you would pass in training.
Fire warden training would constitute training as well as rendering micro/macro information about fire safety rules. The goal is that the staff must understand their role in such cases.
The first thing to be taught is not to create chaos by shouting or panic by running hither and thither. They should quickly and calmly approach the nearest exit point and look to evacuate the arena as soon as possible. For this, the warden will train about all the fire exit doors, how to open them or break them, in rare cases of getting jammed or stuck.
Secondly, he would inform you about fire safety alarms and their modus operandi. On the other hand, it would be the duty of the employer to keep his employees informed about the assessment of risk factors.
To avoid any kind of unpleasant news during a fire break situation, it is important that the entire staff gets a general training about using fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and also fire hose reels.
The presence of a fire safety consultant is always encouraging for the company, but in the last the employees make a company and they will have to show smartness during such situations.
This smartness can only be infused by general training of a fire warden. This training would cover all the aspects of fire safety and basic measures to fight against the fire.
Apart from this, there will be a training regarding the types of fire and their nature and also their spreading methodology.
Learning to use them would ooze confidence that they are ready to tackle any adverse situation arising in the office. This training is not only helpful in fire related situations, but any other natural or man- made calamity like earthquake, hurricane, flood etc.
As mentioned above, there will be thorough training regarding different fire fighting equipments like extinguishers, fire hose reels and sprinkler systems.
