Richard Turner Director of Android Partnerships @ Google
Richard has 20 years’ experience in telecoms 16 of which have been in mobile. He started his career as a
Software Engineer for GEC Plessey Telecommunications and has progressed through roles in engineer-
ing management, project management, business development and general management. Richard joined
Google in September 2011 where he is Director of Android Partnerships in EMEA working with carriers,
OEM’s, ODM’s and retailers across the region with the adoption of the Android OS and eco-system.
Richard has progressed through the ranks from engineering, sales to CEO since gaining his degree in
software engineering from Bournemouth University
Chris Bale COO @ Boohoo.com
Chris has played a key role within the Boohoo.com business as a Non exec at startup in 2007, he has
been an Exec since 2009. Chris is currently Responsible for eCommerce, IT, Logistics and Customer
services. Previous to his life at Boohoo.com Chris has been at the helm of IT for businesses such as NYK
Logistics, City Link and Target Express.
Karl Smith Head of User Experience @ Accenture UK and Ireland
With over 20 years’ experience in his field, Karl plays a key role within Accenture where he is involved in
Enterprise User Experience (EUX) in EMEA, AMER and APAC, across all user and technology touch points
with access to cutting edge technologies, platforms, devices including augmented reality, RFID,
addressable sensors, dust etc for ERP, CRM, ECMS, SAP, web, digital, mobility (iOS, Android, Win8) and
MS Embedded systems. Karl has also been honoured by the British Computer Society for his eminence
and significant contribution to the fields of UCD and User Experience with a Fellowship.
Ian Cartwright Principal Consultant and Architect @ ThoughtWorks
He's been with ThoughtWorks for 10 years doing everything from writing code to helping CTOs with
defining strategy. His current focus includes how GPUs and Multicore are changing software design and
the organisational changes needed to compete online.
