2. What is a phrasal verb?
Also called two or three words verb, the phrasal verbs are the conjunction between a verb and a
preposition, in this way, the main verb changes its authentic meaning to another.

3. Break away
This phrasal verb refers to free oneself to someone. Also, it indicates you leave suddenly somebody.
“After many years, George broke away from his girlfriend.”
4. Check up on
It means, investigate something.
“The cop checks up on the serial murders.”
5. Dry up
This phrasal verb means, stop talking.
“Please Carlos, dry up. You don´t let your classmates pay attention”
6. Get away
This phrasal verb means, you escape or leave a place quickly.
“The burglar gets away in a black car”.
7. Have it out
This verb has two meanings:
First, it means extract or remove something.
“His tooth will fall…He should go to dentist to have it out”
Second, it means discuss something frankly.
“Carlos decided to have it out with his boss”
8. Keep in mind
It means remember something.
“Please, keep in mind the telephone number…we will need it”
9. Let down
This phrasal verb means betray or fail to somebody.
“You promised to help me, but you let me down”
10. Run down
This phrasal verb has two meanings:
Be sick or in poor health
“My mom is run down for she didn’t wear a jacket in this cold city”
When something is deteriorated or it’s in need of repairs.
“That old car is run down”
11. Throw over
This means abandon or desert.
“They throw their mascot over in a park”.
12. Wind up
This phrasal verb means conclude or finish something.
“I will wind up my semester with excellent ratings!”
