1. `Spaced Out/The Dali Effect – Draft Five
Scene 1 – INT – Bedroom
Black screen as a loud screeching is heard whilst the male protagonist is writhing around in his bed
cut between a high angle shot and the black screen, gradually building in speed between the cuts
creating tension. Black screen continues and noise gets louder, creating an ominous feeling. The
sound builds and then we instantly cut (without fading) to man speeding up out of bed, breathing
heavily (close up shot of face showing emotion), before he lies back down (high angle shot from
above), breathing heavily. We then see him put his feet on the floor, and watch him as he gets up,
and walks away. Walks out his door (match on action part 1)
Scene 2 – EXT – Outside
(match on action part 2) When man walks out of door, we end up on street from bed room. Man
standing, looking confused, looking around (wide shot of man standing), he then starts walking along
a path. As he starts, wide shot of a building with him walking along the path and first title is
emblazoned on the wall of a building. Walks past a windowed building, title emblazoned on the wall
there. Man continues walking and sees objects oddly out of place, items that shouldn’t be there, and
as he looks around, people walk by in odd dress, not looking at him, the man looks very confused,
worried, continues walking along the path. He continues along, confused by the world around him,
seeing objects and people. He then after a while, comes across a door. Before he can enter the door
and actually see what is beyond it, a man from earlier grabs the man on the shoulder, looking at him
intently and curiously.
Man
Are you alright, sir?
Man continues to look intently as a bright light engulfs our character. Massive amounts of white
noise as we see a scared expression on the main characters and suddenly, fade to black instantly.
Scene 3 – INT – Bedroom
Man jolts awake in his bed, confused, sweaty. He looks around, shocked and confused, looking
unsure. Fade to black.
