To Change Slide Title:
In Normal View (View > Normal), triple click on the title placeholder to select the title text and type desired text.
To Change Font Color/Size:
Place cursor on top of text and triple click to select it. right-click and select “Font” from the drop-down menu. Select desired attributes to change font, size, boldness, color, etc. Note: many of the same commands can also be accessed from the “Font" group of the “Home” tab or from the “Mini” toolbar that appears when text is selected.
Edit Chart:
Double-click the chart to activate the “Chart Tools Design” tab as well as the chart for editing. Click the “Edit Data” button to access the underlying Excel 2007 spreadsheet.
Copying Data From a Separate Excel Spreadsheet:
From an existing Excel spreadsheet, select the range of cells to be copied, select copy (Ctrl C).
In PowerPoint, double-click the chart to activate the “Chart Tools Design” tab. Click the “Edit Data” button in the “Data” group to activate the underlying “Chart in Microsoft Office PowerPoint” spreadsheet for editing.
Select all the data in the “Chart in Microsoft Office PowerPoint” spreadsheet by clicking the top left corner cell, right-click and click “Delete”.
Click in the first empty cell of the spreadsheet and paste (Ctrl V) to place the data copied from the other Excel file.
Changing Orientation and/or Scale of Data:
If no chart elements appear in your chart it is because the default orientation for pre-made template charts displays data series in rows, not columns and/or the scale may have to be auto-formatted.
Change Orientation:
double-click the chart (do not click anything in the chart). From within the activated “Chart Tools Design” tab, click the “Switch Row/Column” button. If the “Switch Row/Column” button is disabled, click the “Select Data” button and click the “Switch Row/Column” button from within the “Select Data Source” dialog box, click “OK.”
Change Scale:
Place mouse along the chart’s value axis (or y axis – left side of chart). When “Vertical (Value) Axis” pop up appears, right-click, select “Format Axis.” Making sure “Axis Options” is selected on the left, check all boxes under “Auto” to automatically provide the appropriate scale based on the data. To provide your own values, type them in the boxes provided to the right and select the “Fixed” option, click “Close” when done. Make sure to click away from the chart to view changes clearly.
