2. INTRODUCTION
• Established in the year 1987 as ‘REGIONAL
ENGINEERING COLLEGE’.
• Was given the status of NATIONAL INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY(Deemed University) by
Government of India on OCTOBER 17, 2002.
• It has also been declared the ‘INSTITUTE OF
NATIONAL IMPORTANCE’ under the act of
Parliament-2007
3. INFRASTRUCTURE
Campus widespread over an area of 154 acres.
Campus area is broadly classified into different
functional zones

• A Dispensary to provide all the necessary safety aid
to students and the staff
• Shopping complex(popularly known as DS
here)provides with all kinds of daily products and
services.
• Banks and ATM’S are there to assist the students
and the staff. There is a PO as well in the campus.
• Sports complex, playgrounds, tennis courts etc.
• Spacious OAT and CSH to conduct various cultural
fests etc.
• An IT building which provides free access to internet
through WiFi.
5. POLICIES APPLICABLE TO STUDENTS
• ATTENDANCE CRITERIA(MIN 75%)
• MARKS & CG CRITERIA- There are 2 minors
for B.tech students of 20 marks each and one
major exam of 50 marks. Minimum passing
marks are 40 out of 100. 10 marks are left for
assessment by faculty. But for post graduation
students there is just one minor of 25 marks, 50
marks major exam, and remaining 25 for
assessment.

Entry timings to hostel: FOR BOYS ITS 11 PM
AND FOR GIRLS IS 7.30 PM
Fine of Rs.2000 to those who misbehave or
those who break any rule of the institute
