Description:
A health crisis is a difficult or complex health situation that affects humans in one or more
geographic areas. Health crises generally have significant impacts on community health, loss of
life, and on the economy. The impact of social media is increasing day by day due to
widespread use of mobile devices. People can express whenever and whatever they want by
using twitter and other such sites. Social media gives the opportunity to communicate the
current situation to others or emergency agencies such as health organizations when other
communication lines (telephones, help lines) may be overloaded. So system tools and algorithm
performing media analysis are being developed and implemented to atomize monitoring,
classification and aggregation tasks. Challenges for these organizations include automating the
huge task of real-time data fusion of large volumes of multisource heterogeneous information
and maintaining the trust and credibility of this data. As the uptake of social media around the
world increases with time, we feel that the role that this type of social intelligence has to play in
assisting health authorities will also increase. The proposed system provides offline as well as
online services. The system collects text information related to health crisis from twitter data
source. Data filtering, parsing, tokenizing is performed. Data is analyzed for sentiment and
pattern discovery. The acquired knowledge is then is visualized on the dashboard in the form of
heat maps. Real time updation of the dashboard is done by the system. Customized alerts are
sent to users.
