4. Definition of technology:
Technology is the set of knowledge, skills, experience and techniques through
which humans change, transform and use our environment in order to create tools,
machines, products and services that meet our needs and desires. Etymologically
the word comes from the Greek tekne (technical, art, skill) and logos (knowledge)
5. Advanced technology:
Advanced technology is defined as a new or developing IT innovation
that still has relatively few users, yet promises to provide future,
significant value. While this term differs from both advanced
manufacturing and manufacturing technology, they have relationships
with one another
6. Technology destroying the planet:
According to Heidegger, our modern technological worldview emerged
with the scientific revolution in the 17th century, and is exemplified by the
mathematical models of nature we use to manipulate and control our
surroundings. The precision with which our scientific and mathematical
theories measure and predict natural processes allow us to produce
technological devices that are capable of altering or harnessing the
natural world for our own ends. As René Descartes famously said in
1637:
7. Technology destroying the environment:
The effect of technology on the environment is so huge that there are drastic climate changes around the
world.
There is damage in the form of global warming, extinction of birds, plants and also greater propensity for
diseases.
The summers are getting super hot while the winters are getting very chill.
Also, the cold countries are experiencing less cold while hot is experiencing colder and vice-versa.
This makes normal living quite tough than usual. We may need to adopt for comforts like air condition
systems tackle the change. But this will be detrimental to the animals, plants, and climate as a whole
8. Technology destroy human relationships:
Although technology has helped in so many ways,
there is no doubt that human interaction, morality,
socializing, and standards have changed for the
worse. Different doesn’t always mean good. Faster
and more efficient ways of communicating doesn’t
mean good.
Facebook is a huge problem, as it is a virtual high
school where people create shrines. Twitter promotes
ADD and poor grammar.
Oh well.
9. Negative impact on education :
Our experience with technology is a bitter-sweet one. We relish its presence
in our lives, but we dread
the effect it may have on our manners, attitudes and social interactions. We
open the gates of our
schools to all types of technological tools, yet we fear it may badly impact
our students’ performance.
This article investigates the ways through which classroom technology such
as iPad, Internet
connection, laptops and social media, impacts negatively on education.
Relevant research has proven
that technology could change education negatively through four paths:
deteriorating students’
competences of reading and writing, dehumanizing educational
environments, distorting social
interactions between teachers and students and isolating individuals when
using technology
10. Impact on the worksplace:
Technology is often misused when provided or available easily. For example, free
internet in the workplace could be used for personal use to a great extent. Though
monitoring techniques are present, the easy availability or access to these
websites could be a hindrance to productivity.
11. Negative impact on health:
Technology can have a large impact on users' mental and physical health.
Being overly connected can cause psychological issues such as
distraction, narcissism, expectation of instant gratification, and even
depression. Beside affecting users' mental health, use of technology can
also have negative repercussions on physical health causing vision
problems, hearing loss, and neck strain. Fortunately, there are steps that
can be taken to help alleviate these health issues.
