THE TALE OF THE TAILS
Rattlesnakes are reputed for the sound of their tail which is like that of a tambourine.
The rattling of the tail may mean that there is danger but the tail on its own is not harmful, it is just to
warn off intrudersintoits “privacy” or territory. To add is the fact that not all rattlesnakes are harmful.
But who wants to dare or try any snake though.
There is also the squirrel. Though with so many species, the common thing is the relatively long
(comparedtothe bodylength) andbushytail. Onitsown, the tail of the squirrel seemsjustbeautiful, at
best, decorative.
Do you know that a squirrel can challenge and even kill a rattle snake?
To bite, the rattle snake needs to focus before it can attack the prey. But when they confront one
another, while the rattlesnake is rattling its own tail (which on its own is not harmful but to warn) the
squirrel on its own waives its own tail to confuse the snake and make it loose focus while the squirrel
attacks the snake while the snake is still confused.
What challenge,issue orproblemissoundingandactuallylookingthreateningtoyou?Whatis that thing
that youhave that seemsdecorative (atbest) oruselessin fight or self-protection? May be that is what
youneedto defeat/overcomethatoppositionthatisintimidatingyouand stopping you from advancing
or achieving.
I am not sayingthatthe “rattling”of the challenge wouldnot be harmful every time but if you critically
(objectively) look into it you probably have what it takes to overcome the threat.
The problem is that some of us do not respect what we have because we do not respect ourselves as
individual.
What is your uniqueness?
What is your gift?
What is your skill?
What are you wired for?
May be the solution to conquer that problem is already in you but the combination of your fear of the
threatof the problemwiththe disrespectthatyouhave forwhat isin youare the mountainsstanding in
your way to overcome.
As we deal with COVID 19 and the impending consequence, large possibility of job loss could be the
rattlesnake. Do you have your tail like the squirrel? Discover it.
