Project Purpose/Business Case
ShelterBubble wascreatedtodecrease numberof casualtyfromnatural disasterespeciallywaterbased
disasters.Tomanypeople are unpreparedforthingslike hurricanesandotherdisasters.Theyare stranded in
housesandsome eventryto escape incars but unfortunately, some die inthe process. The ShelterBubble is
createdto have enoughspace foran average family.Itisbuilttosustaina familyforabouta week.
Project Preliminary Scope
ShelterBubble will containabathroomandan area to store foodand water.Itwill be able tofloatand

protectionaroundit. It will alsohave acooling andheatingmechanismsaswell asanoxygenandcarbon dioxide
regulator. The shell willbe able tofloat. There will be seatswithharnessesaswell.

Key Milestones and Deliverables
The ShelterBubble willhave fivedifferentmilestones. The firstone itatthe completionof the planning
stage. Up to thispointnothingphysical wouldbe constructed. The secondmilestone isatthe completionof the
firstprototype whenthe firstphysical productiscomplete.Atthispointof the projectnoteston itssafetyor
durabilityhasbeentested.The thirdmilestoneistocomplete all the safety,durability,equipmentfunctionsas
well asadjustthe prototype astestresultscomesout. The fourthstepwouldbe tocomplete all the marketing
and sellsresearch, reports, andstrategy. The lastmilestone wouldbe toadjustthe firstprototype accordingto
the testresultsgatheredfromthe thirdmilestoneaswell asmarketreports. More testswill be done before the
completionof thismilestone.
The firstmilestone isidentifiedbasedonthe physical workload. Thiswhere all the planningisdone,
and because planningisthe mostimportantportionandisthe foundationforthe whole project thusnophysical
constructionof the prototype will be done beforethisstage iscomplete. Fourmonthsis allocatedtothisstage
for that exactreason. The completionof the firstprototype isthe secondmilestone andafourmonthis
allocatedforthis stage as well. While mostof the exactstepof the constructionof the firstprototype are listed
inthe planningstate, itismuchmore cost efficientformistakestobe fixedduringthe initialstage of
construction,thus,thisperiodallowsformistakestobe caughtand fixed.Afterthatisthe completionof the
testingstage. Onlyfourmonthsisgivenforthismilestonebecause thisthe initialtestingstage togatherall the
data and notactuallywithinthe fixingstage. Once the prototype isdone constructing, the marketingportionof
the team will startgatherdifferentmarketreportsaswell asfuture marketforecast. A total of 10 monthwill be
givenforthisstage because mostof the data gatheredisgoingtobuildthe basesforforecasting. While the
marketingsectionisgoing, the constructingof the final prototypewillalsobe inprogressafterthe third
milestone. Itwill take one yearforthisprototype tocomplete because more testwill be done asadjustments
are made to ensure safety of ShelterBubble.
At the due date of the firstmilestone, the blueprintsof the interiorandexteriorwillbe done aswell as
the blueprintof all the electricals.Atthe secondmilestone, the constructionof the firstprototype willbe done
as well as firstroundof testsas the constructionof the prototype isbeingbuild. Thisstage will alsotestthe
marketfor the product. At the endof the thirdmilestone, all majortestswill be complete intermsof revisionof

thisstage 5 improvedprototype will be soldtosee how well itwill reactwiththe market. Atthe lastmilestone,
all changeswill be final, andall the necessarytesttoinsure the safetyof the productwill be done andisready
for the market.Table onnextpage.

Project High-Level Assumptions
Our assumptionsare decidedbasedonwhatwe envisionedourproducttobe and what functionisgoing
to serve. Ourvisionincludesthatit’sgoingtokeepfamilies’safe duringnatural disastersthuswe assume that
it’sgoingto at leastbe able to fita familyandthuscan’t be small insize. We alsoassume thatthere isgoingto
be a longperiodof time (oversix month) betweenthe time thisproductisboughtanditis usedthuswe assume
that it’snot goingtocome withelectricity, food, water. We alsoassume thatour initial draftof the productis

not goingto be perfectandthuswe wouldneedmore thanone prototype. Withthese assumptionsinplace,
we will planandschedule aroundthose assumptionstoensure thatyourprojectsaysonschedule andon
budget.
Assumptionsinclude:
● It won’tbe small because itwill fitafamily
● Electricswill workwiththe designteamtofitinelectricals
● Once the customerbuysit, theyare responsibleforstockingit
● There will be more thanone prototype due tothe needto testthe product.
Key Critical Success Factors
● Make sure that all aspectsof the projectare testedthoroughlyforsafetyreasons
● At leastmiddle-classfamiliescanpurchase ShelterBubble
● Make sure that the product isconvenientforpeople tostore
● Make sure that all the interiordesignsare matchingtocustomers'preferences
