1. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The Community Engagement category recognizes family businesses
that have made a significant contribution to the Central Ohio
community. We will award three businesses within the small, medium
and large category.
Our large family business winner is White Castle System, Inc. Will

White Castle System began selling its iconic 5-cent sliders in 1921. With
hard work and determination, the castle-shaped eatery quickly became a
pioneer of the quick service restaurant industry. Now, White Castle
System is celebrating its 10-year partnership with Autism Speaks, the
nation’s largest organization benefiting autism research and advocacy.
White Castle System have recently taken its alliance with Autism
Speaks to all new heights by raising $919,000, which exceeded their
original goal by 22%. Congratulations to White Castle System, Inc.

Our medium family business winner is Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc.

Lake Shore is a leading global innovator in measurement and control
solutions that drive the discovery and development of new materials for
tomorrow’s technologies. Since 2006, Lake Shore has hosted an annual
food drive in support of the Westerville Area Resource Ministry.
W.A.R.M. is an organization that provides compassionate, short-term
assistance to those in need in the Westerville community. Every year,
Lake Shore employees look forward to the challenge of collecting

2. enough food to exceed the previous year’s donation. Congratulations on

Our small family business winner is Champion Real Estate. Will

Champion is a privately held, multi-family real estate investment and
management firm. Champion Real Estate is dedicated to supporting the
growth of Central Ohio and has created the Champion Cares Foundation,
which allows residents in the Champion community round up their rent a
$1 each month to donate to charity. With Champion matching every $1
donated, the program raised $1,750 for the YWCA Family Center during
