Food waste is one of the biggest problems facing humanity
today. Between 33-50% of all food produced globally ends
up in the trash. This food is valued at over $1 trillion. The
sad part is that 800 million people go to bed hungry every
night.

What is FOOD WASTAGE :
4. Food waste means or it occurs when…
-edible food goes uneaten in homes, restaurants, and retail stores.
-Wasted food also includes crops left in the field, food that spoils in
transportation.
-amount of food is lost at nearly every stage of food production.
5. The area where we see the problem is in our
campus(Mess).
6. The problem is very vast…basically , we see in our
campus(mess) on daily basis the food get wasted in a
huge amount.
7. The problem is majorly seen by mess community ..
Also , food waste also heavily contributes to the emission
of greenhouse gases. it’s a challenge for mess
community reagrding how to reuse the food
which get wasted on the daily basis.
8. it is important to solve it now because it is not only our mess but
also we can see that because of food wastages numerous
problems arises like :
-Wastage of the 1/3 of the world fertile land areas
- Biodiversity loss
- Impact on climate change
9. The first one to start this trend back in 2010, Annakshetra is a
Jaipur based organization .
Aims: to eliminate food wastage and ensure optimum utilization of
resources.
Currently they are also doing extensive research on food
waste and its impact on water, carbon footprint, arable land,
and the overall environment.
10. Aim: to bring children to school by providing them wholesome
food every single school days.
• Their world’s largest (nonprofit) mid-day meal program
serves to over 1.6 million children across 12 states in India.
• Their mission is to feed 5 million children by 2020

• They act as a link between "food wasters and seekers".
• Members collected excess food from events, weddings,
hotels and housing societies, and delivered it to hungry

they have food recovery units like volunteers, helpline numbers,
mobile application, food recovery vehicles, etc.
• They are functionable in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and
Kerala.

since 1987.
Aim :this organization helps children who are the
victims of abuse, poverty, and abandonment.

Aim : They work in other organizations like education, healthcare,
orphanages, and rehabilitation programs.
