2. use imagery ,diction,figures of speech, and specific experiences;
3. read closely as writers with consciousness of craft.
I. MOTIVATION
Sense on it !
1. Dark green of rolling pastures
2. The cracking of wood splitting punctuated each burst of fire like an exclamation point
3. the streets glistened like shiny ornaments after the rain
4. the beach air smelled of seaweed and salt
5. Wind swirled around our beach house whistling loudly to a terrible tune
6. The puppy’s nose was dry like sandpaper
7. Sour lemonade
8. Green mango with bagoong.
Guided Questions : Own Definition.
1. What is in your mind while reading the sentences?
2. What kind of senses do you have in each sentence?
3. How do you know that the sentences are in the sense of touch, sight, hear,smell and taste ?
4. Is it possible that those senses give consciousness to our readers?
II. PRESENTATION

Reading a Short Story.
Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
"The barn was very large. It was very old. It smelled of hay and it smelled of manure. It
smelled of the perspiration of tired horses and the wonderful sweet breath of patient cows. It
often had a sort of peaceful smell­as though nothing bad could happen ever again in the
world. It smelled of grain and of harness dressing and of axle grease and of rubber boots and
of new rope. And whenever the cat was given a fish head to eat, the barn would smell of fish.
But mostly it smelled of hay, for there was always hay in the great loft up overhead. And there
was always hay being pitched down to the cows and the horses and the sheep.
Guided Questions :
1. Give at least 5 senses that you have noticed in Charlotte's Web passage.
2. In the passage, where did E.B White want her/his readers to transport ?
3. What is it all about ? Analyze it.

III. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON
Think-Pair-Share.
Direction(s): Big Notebook. You have been given five minutes to go outside to appreciate nature
and make your own poem, short story or a song using the five types of imagery; visual,auditory,
kinesthetic, olfactory and gustatory imagery.
***Values Integration: Appreciation is the easiest action that we can give to others, appreciating little
things are remarkable. The small and big things that God gave to us are blessings.
GENERALIZATION
Process Questions:
1. What is imagery?
2. What are the five types of imagery? Discuss and Explain.
3. Does imagery have an importance in Creative Writing ? In your strand HUMMS how is it
important?
IV. APPLICATION/DRILLS
Group Activity: 5 members in a group.
Direction/s:Read and Analyze the song lyrics of.” Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor
Swift.
Underlined the imagery given in the lyrics. Each group has one or two representatives to sing the song
and one will present the group analysis of lyrics imagery.
V. EVALUATION
Summative Assessment.
Directions: Answer the following questions. (10 points each)
Find out the Imagery in the passage. Write down the sentences below and name what type of
imagery was used. Analyze what the writer conveys in each line.
1-7. Excerpt from When the Emperor Was Divine (Otsuka, 2002):
All through October the days were still warm, like summer, but at night the mercury dropped and
in the morning the sagebrush was sometimes covered with frost. Twice in one week there were dust
storms. The sky turned suddenly gray and then a hot wind came screaming across the desert, churning
up everything in its path. From inside the barracks the boy could not see the sun or the moon or even the
next row of barracks on the other side of the gravel path. All he could see was dust. The wind rattled the
windows and doors and the dust seeped like smoke through the cracks in the roof and at night he slept
with a wet handkerchief over his mouth to keep out the smell. In the morning, when he woke, the wet
handkerchief was dry and in his mouth there was the gritty taste of chalk. (p. 77)

I. MOTIVATION Sense on it ! 1. Dark green of rolling pastures 2. The cracking of wood splitting punctuated each burst of fire like an exclamation point 3. the streets glistened like shiny ornaments after the rain 4. the beach air smelled of seaweed and salt 5. What is in your mind while reading the sentences? 2. What kind of senses do you have in each sentence? 3. How do you know that the sentences are in the sense of touch, sight, hear,smell and taste ? 4. Is it possible that those senses give consciousness to our readers? II. PRESENTATION *Presentation of the learning objectives Reading a Short Story. Charlotte's Web by E.B. White "The barn was very large. It was very old. It smelled of hay and it smelled of manure. It smelled of the perspiration of tired horses and the wonderful sweet breath of patient cows. It often had a sort of peaceful smell­as though nothing bad could happen ever again in the world. It smelled of grain and of harness dressing and of axle grease and of rubber boots and of new rope. And whenever the cat was given a fish head to eat, the barn would smell of fish. But mostly it smelled of hay, for there was always hay in the great loft up overhead. And there was always hay being pitched down to the cows and the horses and the sheep. Guided Questions :

Direction/s:Read and Analyze the song lyrics of.” Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift. Underlined the imagery given in the lyrics. Each group has one or two representatives to sing the song and one will present the group analysis of lyrics imagery. V. EVALUATION Summative Assessment. Directions: Answer the following questions. (10 points each) Find out the Imagery in the passage. Write down the sentences below and name what type of imagery was used. Analyze what the writer conveys in each line. 1-7. Excerpt from When the Emperor Was Divine (Otsuka, 2002): All through October the days were still warm, like summer, but at night the mercury dropped and in the morning the sagebrush was sometimes covered with frost. Twice in one week there were dust storms. The sky turned suddenly gray and then a hot wind came screaming across the desert, churning up everything in its path. From inside the barracks the boy could not see the sun or the moon or even the next row of barracks on the other side of the gravel path. All he could see was dust. The wind rattled the windows and doors and the dust seeped like smoke through the cracks in the roof and at night he slept with a wet handkerchief over his mouth to keep out the smell. In the morning, when he woke, the wet handkerchief was dry and in his mouth there was the gritty taste of chalk. (p. 77) Example : 1. Type of Imagery: Tactile Imagery The author conveys the readers to feel the changing weather in October. Compose: 8-12. Make your Biography. Essay: 13-15.
