Gender and Socio-Cultural Inclusion in Global Change Research

This letter serves as a notification that Mr Sibusiso Gift Nkosi formed part of the Research
Reference Group for the NRF Funded Project titled Gender and Socio-Cultural Inclusion in
Global Change Research.
Members of the Research Reference Group were expected to participate in an Expert
Reference Group Meeting (11-12 August 2014) to initiate the design of a framework which
would help researchers’ mainstream gender and socio-cultural matters in global change
research. This framework was disseminated and elaborated on during the National Workshop
(29-31 October 2014) during which detailed discussions, presentations, and workshops were
hosted pertaining to the three core areas of the project: socio-cultural studies, gender studies,
global change studies. Being mentored by other Research Reference Group members
Sibusiso, like other workshop participants is developing a papers relating to the framework.
Finally, the Research Reference Group members contributed to the Primary Report on the
framework, which is available via the HSRC website, as well as the Comprehensive Report
the publication of which is imminent.
