3. What is IOT ?
The Internet of things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines are
provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring
human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction

4. Example of IOT
MAN - MAN is a Truck & Bus Company. As the company provides its customers with the tracker which
spots engine faults or other potential failures. Hence it saves time and money for the customers.
ABB - The company is basically into production of Robots. It uses connected, low-cost sensors to monitor the
maintenance of its robots to prompt repairs before the parts break.
Smart farming System -
The automation with use of Cloude
Computing and ml and ai for preducting

5. IOT Protocol
What is protocol ?
The official procedure or system of rules governing affairs of state or diplomatic occasions.
A communication protocol is a system of rules that allow two or more entities of a communications system to
transmit information via any kind of variation of a physical quantity.
Need of protocol.
Network protocols are needed because it include mechanisms for devices to identify and make connections
with each other, as well as formatting rules that specify how data is packaged into messages sent and received.
It also need for security purpose. Speed communiaction and efficiant communication.

7. Link Layer
1. Lowest layer after the physical layer.
2. The link layer is the group of methods and communications protocols confined to
the link that a host is physically connected.
3. Operate only on the local network segment (link) that a host is connected.
8. Different parts of Link Layer and there some specifications
Link Layer
• 802.3 – Ethernet
• 802.11 – WiFi
• 802.16 – WiMax
• 802.15.4 – LR-
WPAN
• 2G/3G/4G
Ethernet
WiFi

10. Responsibility of link layer
● Node to node delivery:
● Flow control:
○ Controls the flow of message or data
○ Limited amount of message can be received
○ Error control:
■ If error is detected it can be send back to source
■ Quick process

11. 2. Network/Internet Layer
• IPv4
• IPv6
• 6LoWPAN
6LoWPAN is an acronym of IPv6 over Low -Power Wireless Personal
Area Networks.
Encapsulation and header compression mechanisms that allow IPv6
packets to be sent and received over IEEE 802.15. 4 based networks.
Used to identify the devices on a network using hierarchical
addressing scheme
Uses 32-bit address
Most recent version of the Internet Protocol.
Long-anticipated problem overcomed.
128- bit
12. Transport Layer
• Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
Main protocols of the Internet protocol suite.
Connection-oriented,
client and server is established (passive open) before data can be sent
Flow Control capability to ensure the sending data rate is not too high for the receiver process
• User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
Does not do connection before transmitting.
Transaction oriented and stateless
To avoid Prior communications..
13. • Application Layer
• HTTP - Hyper Transfer Protocol
Forms foundation of World Wide Web(WWW)
- Includes commands such as GET,PUT..etc
- Follows a request-response model
- Uses Universal Resource Identifiers(URIs) to identify HTTP resource
- Application -(HTML files, image files, query results)

14. • CoAP - Constrained Application Protocol
• Used for Machine to machine (M2M) applications meant for constrained
devices.
• Web transfer protocol for IoT and uses request-response model
• Uses client –server architecture

15. WebSocket
Two-way communication between a client running
untrusted code in a controlled environment to a remote host.
Message Queuing Telemetry Transport - MQTT
A lightweight messaging protocol for small sensors and mobile devices, optimized for
high-latency or unreliable networks, enabling a Smarter Planet and the.(low bd w)
Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol - (XMPP)
This is a communication protocol for message-oriented middleware based on XML.
