TRADITIONAL DOCUMENT
DISPOSAL PROCESS
WITH A RECYCLING BIN
SHRED-IT’S
SECURE DOCUMENT
DESTRUCTION PROCESS
Shred-it’s consoles
have a beveled slot
that ensures
documents cannot
be retrieved.
All Shred-it employees undergo
training to achieve a Certified Informa-
tion Security Professional designation.
A Certificate of Destruction
is provided to every customer.
The average office worker
handles 10,000 sheets of paper
each year.1
Your information is
now exposed to everyone
outside your building.
With no guaranteed
destruction time, information is
exposed indefinitely and no
proof of destruction is provided.
DOCUMENTS DESTROYED
For more information on how Shred-it can help keep
your documents secure and recycled, please visit :

Confidential documents are dropped
into a recycling bin and sit unsecured.
Confidential documents
are dropped into a
secure console.
Consoles are emptied and
documents are destroyed
on-site or within 48 hours
at a secure facility.
Shredded paper is then sent
to a paper mill for recycling.
RECYCLED
AND SECURED!
Once confidential
information is dropped
into a Shred-it console,
it remains secure until
it is destroyed.
Once collected by janitorial
staff, documents are left in
large plastic bags.
Materials are placed in
outdoor recycling bins for
pick up.
Intact documents are loaded
onto a truck for transportation
to the sorting facility.
Sure, documents are
ultimately destroyed but
confidential information is
exposed repeatedly
throughout the process.
Documents are
sorted through
and prepped for
the recycling process.
Eventually, documents are
destroyed and recycled.

Recycling bins may be helping the
environment, but these bins
create a hotbed of opportunity for
white-collar criminals by leaving
information exposed
and at risk.
By using a secure information
destruction provider, information
is destroyed sooner, minimizing
potential for security breaches –
and is still 100% recycled.
61% of the perpetrators
in white-collared crimes is
someone inside the organization.2
