It’s time to take your lawnmower out of
hibernation and get it ready for Spring
and Summer lawn care
We’ve prepared a few tips to help you get the most out of your lawnmower this season
2. CLEANING AND LUBRICATING WILL KEEP THE
ENGINE COOL AND PREVENT CORROSION
Disable the
engine or
transmission
and remove the
blades
Shrader’s Silicone Spray
Lube keeps grass
clippings and dirt from
collecting under the deck
Stubborn clumps
might require a stiff
brush or scraper
Use a pressure washer
or garden hose to blast
off dust, dirt, grime,
grass-clippings
Use Shrader’s
Heavy Duty
Degreaser on
oil and grease
deposits
3. Sharpen lawnmower blades with a hand file,
angle grinder, or bench grinder
SHARP BLADES CUT GRASS CLEANLY
AND PREVENT BROWN SPOTTING AND
LAWN DAMAGE
4. UNBALANCED BLADES CAN DAMAGE YOUR LAWNMOWER
AND AREN’T COMFORTABLE TO USE
Balance lawnmower blades
by hanging on a nail to
determine which end is
heavier
Keep “sharpening” the heavy
end of the blade until the blade
is balanced
5. CLEAN DRIVE BELTS ARE QUIET AND
TRANSMIT POWER EFFICIENTLY
Remove guards
and clean belts
and pulleys
Use Shrader’s V-Belt Dressing to
improve belt flexibility and grip,
preventing slipping and
chattering
6. OTHER MOVING PARTS SHOULD BE
LUBRICATED TO PREVENT NOISE AND
KEEP THINGS MOVING
Shrader’s Synthetic Spray
Lubricant is a good option for
most light loads
Shrader’s White Lithium Grease can
be used on the wheels
7. THE ENGINE REQUIRES SPECIAL CARE TO
GET IT UP AND RUNNING EFFICIENTLY
Remove
guards and
clean belts and
pulleys
Replace the engine
oil, spark plugs, and
air filter
Add Shrader’s
Small Engine
Tune-Up to
dissolve fuel
system deposits
Use Shrader’s Ethanol
Fuel Stabilizer all
season to prevent fuel
separation and deposits
8. IF THE ENGINE STARTS OR RUNS POORLY,
DEEPER CLEANING MAY BE REQUIRED
Use Shrader’s Carburetor and Choke
Cleaner to remove stubborn deposits
from the carburetor
If needed, rebuilding the
carburetor only requires a few
hand tools and a rebuild kit
9. AN AFTERNOON OF SPRING CLEANING WILL SET
YOU UP FOR ALL-SEASON LAWNMOWER
RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE
