Evaluation Question 6
1. What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing the
product?

2. Process
Photography plays a major role in magazines, and, for me, it was one of the
hardest parts to get right in my production. I had next to no experience with
any cameras more advanced than digital, so my photoshoot was very
important to get right with the professional camera I used. Fortunately, I got
used to the camera easily and found the manual focus very useful by the end
of the session, as I could focus on anything I wanted to and not just what the
camera thought I wanted to. This came in very handy with the shallow focus I
used for my contents page image.
I was also new at photo editing. I tried to use an online editor that was similar
to Photoshop, however I had issues with saving my image in the quality I
needed it and keeping layers. This led me to try the Photoshop CS6 trial, which
I found much more easy to use and effective for the realistic touch my
magazine needed because of the fonts and editing tools the software had. I’m
very pleased that I decided to use the means of production that I did, as I feel
they really helped to add the important details to my work.
3. Presentation
I presented all of my work onto the Wikispace once I was finished. It was mostly a
good way of sharing what I’d done, but I found a few issues with uploading the correct
widgets and a few glitches in the website that, unfortunately, come with dodgy
internet connection. Nevertheless, I persevered and included links to watch my
presentations online in case my widgets wouldn’t load when they were being checked.
Prezi was very useful to me in presenting my work. Because of its templates and self-
explanatory tools, I found it very easy to use and got the hang of it in minutes. The
range of templates meant that I could do a lot of my work there and then share the
separate Prezis on the Wikispace for everyone to see – this was really good for
creating long-winded answers with visual aids so that viewers wouldn’t get bored.
I also used Voicethread to present my first evaluation question. This, too, was very
easy to use once I’d played around with it a little bit. It also meant I could say
everything I needed to without handing the audience walls of boring text to read, and
the whole thing was done with clear visual aids. Wikispaces also allowed me to upload
this directly onto the page.
This answer will be presented using Slideshare, which isn’t very technical. It lets me
create my presentation on Powerpoint and then upload it onto the website so I don’t
have to do all of my editing online, and I can share my presentations with a direct link
to the page.
