Celebrate the First Harvest of the Burns Hill Community Garden
United Way and Burns Hill Neighborhood Association Host Harvest on the Hill
HIGH POINT, N.C. --- The first crop of the Burns Hill community garden is ready for
harvest, and it is time to celebrate. The United Way of Greater High Point and the Burns Hill
Neighborhood Association are hosting Harvest on the Hill. This event will unify and
empower the community by bringing people together to promote health, fellowship and
awareness. The inaugural Harvest on the Hill takes place Thursday, June 30, from 6-8 p.m.
at Baldwin’s Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church.
“One out of every four High Point residents does not have access to good quality
food,” said Carl Verling, executive director of the Greater High Point Food Alliance. “Low
cost food is mostly processed and high in sodium and carbohydrates. This does not make
for a healthy meal.” Harvest on the Hill will help combat food insecurity by educating the
community on healthier food choices that can be found in the Burns Hill community
garden.
