Background: Most recently, I have lived in Toronto for the past two years worked for Hydro One as an Administrative
Assistant to the Director of the First Nation and Métis Relations and attended school full-time in the First Nation Law
Clerk program through St. Lawrence College. As well, I have worked for our First Nation in the First Nation Land
Management Initiative for four years and had the opportunity to sit on the Garden River First Nation Bingo Enterprises
Board of Directors. Individually, I have carried on teachings of my grandmother through the achievement of a
successful seamstress venture. At the present, I am happy and glad to be home again.
Community Interests and Beliefs:
I am committed to growth in:
Transparency: keeping open communications with membership at all levels on the businesses and operations of
the First Nation.
Economic development and sustainability: continue efforts on a plan of action to maintain and maximize in the
best interest of the community to provide to our citizens at home and living away from home through services,
programs and employment.
Diversity: equality, community input and involvement at all levels, meaningful relationships with the people.
Through previous positions, I have demonstrated leadership skills, management skills, sound communication skills
and professionalism. Generally, I have worked in the area of policy development, community consultation with
Aboriginal and First Nation communities across Canada and studied Aboriginal, Federal and Provincial Law. I am
highly focused and result orientated, have the ability to identify priorities and resolve issues in initial stages to achieve
objectives.
As a young adult, I would honour the opportunity to represent and work beside the grassroots people of our First
Nation. Should my campaign be successful, I believe collectively we will spark a positive change in our community. At
the heart of this belief, I shall use the seven teachings to guide me in decision making together with direction from the
community members as we all have a responsibility where we live, work and care for our future generations; youth,
adult and elders as a whole. Last but not least, chi-miigwetch to my nominators, Cynthia Jones (cousin) and Cynthia
Jones-Belleau, (friend and councillor). Thank you for your time and consideration in this year’s election.
