1. Dear Neighbor,
We are supporting Dan Opsommer for Meridian Township Trustee
because he is knowledgeable, accessible, listens and works hard.
Dan’s experience serving on our Township Planning Commission, as the
Chief of Staff to State Rep. Jim Townsend, and having worked for
Mark Meadows will be invaluable to our community. Dan’s knowledge
is phenominal, he knows how to get real results, and his passion and
energy for our community is truly unique and inspiring. Dan serves as
the president-elect of the East Lansing Kiwanis Club, is a member of
the Haslett Beautification Association and Sierra Club, and an active
volunteer with Meridian Recycling and many
other community service projects.
We hope you will join us in voting for
Dan on Tuesday, August 2nd!
Sincerely,
Penny and Mike Swartz

2. Dear Friend,
Dan helped us resolve an issue with our cable TV provider. Our
cable bill had increase by over $70 in just 3 months. We repeatedly
contacted our cable company attempting to determine why our bill
had increased so dramatically. After a month of getting the
runaround, we were fed up and contacted our state
representative for assistance.
With the help of the Michigan Public Service Commission, Dan was
able to lower our cable bill by $50. He understood our issue and
got the job done for our family. The program Dan used to help
our family expired on December 31 of last year. In response,
Dan drafted and is working to pass a bipartisan package of
legislation to continue this valuable consumer protection.
We are very thankful for his help and advocacy. Dan is
knowledgeable, very resourceful and a great public servant!
Sincerely,
Roger and Noel Lamothe
Dear Neighbor,
I feel fortunate to live in Meridian Township. I was born and raised in
the Greater Lansing Area. When I was young my parents wanted to live
in Meridian Township, but couldn’t afford a home here at that time. It is
somewhat surreal to me that my family is able to call such a wonderful
community our home, which is why I’m committed to giving back by
devoting my time, energy, knowledge and experience to our community.
What happens at our state Capitol every day affects our community in
so many ways, which is why it is very important that we have board
members who are well versed in state law. At our state Capitol, I’ve
worked on countless policy issues that affect our community, including:
properly funding transportation, K-12 education, and higher education,
closing the loophole that big box stores are exploiting to lower their
property taxes, and restoring critical funding for our local community.
If elected, you can always count on me to be accessible, work hard,
listen to your thoughts and concerns and keep my word. I hope you
will cast 1 of your 4 votes for me on Tuesday, August 2nd!
Sincerely,
Dan
