Richard Stillson, also known as Mucha Mucha Placer, is a performance artist, psychologist, and LGBTQ rights activist in Hartford, Connecticut. As a drag queen, he was the first master of ceremonies for the city's Gay Pride festival in 1994. Stillson has advocated for LGBTQ rights for many years through organizations like the Connecticut Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Civil Rights. He has also motivated and encouraged students to advocate for themselves and found pride organizations on college campuses. Stillson uses his creative talents and flamboyant costumes to spread messages of inclusion and celebrate people's uniqueness.

long festival. ``You know we want to break the stereotype that drag queens only come out at night,’’ Stillson said.
Hello everyone! This week’ s project is a profile on someone relatable to my blog. As
you know I believe that we all possess a unique and fun spirit that drives us. And al-
though we may not think of it has any more than mere having fun, you never know
who’s watching and how it effects their day.
I love a parade!!!! So, it would be appropriate to share where I first met my “profile
subject”, yes it was at the parade, specifically the Hooker Day Parade in Hartford, Con-
necticut. My family and I have had the awesome pleasure of marching and volunteering
for this event for several years. And in 2014, I am Proud to say, I bestowed the Mistress
of Ceremonies for the Parade and when the time came to “pass the baton”, there was
no doubt in my mind than to
pass it on to the great Mucha Mucha Placer!!!!
I would like to reintroduce to Connecticut, Mucha Mucha Placer! I say reintroduce be-
cause many people know and love Mucha for various reasons. Mucha aka Richard Still-
son Ph.D., has contributed to our community and society as a whole in various ways.

“We are going back to a location that is historically significant for the LGBT community in CT,” said Dr. Richard
Stillson, the Hartford Capital City Pride Rally committee chair. “In 1982, when we were last assembled together
here for a celebration, we didn’t have all of the protections from discrimination, adoptive and marriage rights, like
we do today. It took a lot of courage to be out on that lawn back then. Some of us wore masks to hide our identities.
But this year, we’ll celebrate who we are in our many races, ages, and religions and give tribute to the founders of
the 1982 event.”
We begin to learn over the years that Dr. Stillson would lead
and motivate students such as my daughter
Alexandria Evans. My daughter has always had me to push
her to advocate for herself and other children with special
needs. But as an adult her focus and ears were no longer
encouraged by me. So, when she decided to go to college I
was so pleased and found that she still had the advocate’s
spirit. Thanks to Dr. Stillson, Alexandria was motivated and
founded the PRIDE organization at
Capital Community College.
Dr. Stillson has been a champion for those that are afflicted with mental health disorders. As a
professional he is able to offer assistants not only to students but to those in the community that may
be experiencing hardship because of their “sexual orientation”, in particular, the “transgender”
population.
And of course, the purpose of my blog is to
showcase unique people that just enjoy doing
thier thang!
Mucha Mucha is famously known for the
FABULOUS costumes and makeup!!! Which
is one of the reasons I am encouraged by the
creative commentary before our eyes!!!
Dr. Stillson is on most days a Hero. And to
people like myself and my daughter, we say;
