1. How COVID-19 will change the world:

As of writing this blog, the worldwide death toll has crossed 330 thousand.
The world will never be the same after this pandemic is over. An entire generation will grow up and tell stories
about the year 2020 and how they spent months in lockdown. Where people had to maintain social
distancing and were required to wear masks to protect themselves.
I believe that the world will go through considerable change. A change in how people think, how we perceive
our surroundings will occur. Let’s discuss in detail how COVID-19 will affect the world and how it’ll change

Changes that COVID-19 will bring
A change in how we work
What is a typical job? What do you think a job entails? For decades a job has meant working from 9 to 5 in
your office and relaxing on the weekends. You wake up you go to work, you do your work and get paid for it.
That’s how it’s been.
But after COVID-19 hit, the first thing to go was typical jobs, countries were put under lockdown, and I’m
writing this blog while in lockdown myself.
As you can imagine, it’s hard to go to work when the world’s going through hell. And lockdown meant all the
typical jobs and work were out of the question.

2. The first thing on people’s minds was what now? How are we going to survive without jobs and an income?
For most, the answer came in the form of remote working.
Almost immediately the entire world unilaterally decided that just because we couldn’t work from an office
doesn’t mean we can’t work. It’s the 21st century, after all.
It’s incredible just how quickly and easily everyone adapted to working from home. And now almost
everyone I know is working from home. They are doing the regular work that they always do from the comfort
of their homes.
And this made me think, what happens after the lockdown. Do we go back to working in the offices like we
used to?
I think not. Let me elaborate.
Most of the things that we do nowadays are online anyways. Modern technology has made it really easy for us
to collaborate with our co-workers without physically having to be in the same office.
Speaking from my own experience, my workflow has not suffered one bit from working from home. I do the
regular things that I do, I collaborate with my co-workers, attend meetings and complete all my tasks just like I
used to.
And given a choice between working from my own comfortable home office and working from my crowded
office, I will choose to work from home any day of the week. And I’m sure you’ll agree with me.

3. It was a bit hard for me at first, I must agree. The first few days were especially weird. Here’s a link to the blog

But you see now that people know they can do their work from home and they can earn just as much, they will
not want to work from a typical office. I mean, why would you want to work from a cubicle if you can do the
same job from the comfort of your home?
And this I think will be the biggest change that’ll happen after COVID-19.
We’ll see a rise in remote working and more and more people will choose to work from home.
And it’s good, we’ll get to spend more time with our family and loved ones. While also working and
earning a decent living.
A change in education
Do you know what also shuts down during a lockdown, apart from offices?
The answer, Schools!!
Yes, when the country was put under lockdown, the schools and colleges were also shut down. Although it
was great for the children who got to enjoy months of vacation, it was not great for the parents and people who
were genuinely worried about their child’s and their own education.
And then something amazing happened! Who would have thought that students and teachers would also follow
suit and start online education?

4. Many schools and universities started taking classes online, and they are still continuing to do so. It seems that
the old saying is true, where there’s a will there’s a way.
Along with children, many adults also realised the importance of utilising time wisely.
Although many industries were in decline, the online education industry saw a massive boost. We saw a
record number of people started taking online courses and classes.
Many people used their free time to take a course to learn a new skill. Some took courses to hone their skills,
others took courses to expand their knowledge. I mean there’s no end to knowledge after all. And learning
something new is always beneficial. An investment you make to improve yourself is the best investment you
can make.
And that I think is another big change that’ll happen after the pandemic is over.
Because we have realised that we don’t need schools to get an education. You can learn everything you want
as long as you’re willing.

A change in family relations
The best thing that happened due to this pandemic is that people got closer to their families. The moment this
pandemic hit, people returned to their homes and spent time with their loved ones. They realised at the end of
the day family is what we have.

5. This unfortunate pandemic gave me the chance to spend time with my family, and being stuck at home gave
me a lot of time to know them better.
And working from home meant that I could spend time with them, help them and build a stronger bond with
them. People got closer to their families, and that’s the best thing in the world.
A change in health and safety
I’m pretty sure all the world has realised just how ferocious nature can be and just how unprepared we really
are.
A single virus brought the whole world to a complete halt. And what caused this virus outbreak? Our own
disregard for general hygiene and safety.
And I hope that such a tragedy never occurs again. And I’m sure that the entire world will not let such a
pandemic to never happen again.
The entire world will become much more strict towards basic hygiene, and we’ll see people getting more
conscious about what they eat and consume.

6. People have realised that at the end of the day, health is what we have. Nothing is permanent, everything we
rely upon can disappear just in the blink of an eye.
And nature doesn’t care about us, the earth doesn’t need us, we need the planet, to survive.
I hope we prepare ourselves, the authorities prepare themselves so that such a tragedy
like this pandemic may never occur again.
And that I think is another change that’ll happen after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. We’ll see the world
take precautions and have measures in hand to respond to such crises that may arise in the future.
Conclusion
Many people I knew died because of this pandemic.
The one thing that this pandemic has made me realise is this, change is inevitable. And everything we rely on
can go away in the blink of an eye. The best thing we can do is prepare ourselves as best as we can, spend time
with our loved ones and hope for the best.
