While introducing the topic ‘Symmetry’ in Math, Grade 7 students were asked to choose real world objects, draw them on paper and show line of symmetry and rotational symmetry. Students were divided into groups and they chose Basketball and Tennis fields. They drew them on chart papers and marked lines of symmetry and rotational symmetry by themselves. Later, they wrote alphabets and polygons on slips of paper and checked the line of symmetry by folding the slips and rotational symmetry by rotating the slips. It was a fun learning activity on drawing real world references.
