1. Texas A&M University—Commerce Daily LessonPlan Form
Teacher: Shanon Hamilton Subject: Geometry Grade Level: HS
Mentor: Hannah Sparks Campus/District: Caddo
Mills HS
Date: 09/19/16
Overall Goal of Lesson: To review and re-teach angle pairs formed when you have two lines and a
transversal
Instructional Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to correctly name and identify
the different types of angle pairs formed by transversals .
Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) &
ELPS: (typed out completely)
(6)(A) Verify theorems about angles formed by the intersection
of lines and line segments, including vertical angles, and
angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversaland prove
equidistance between the endpoints of a segment and po9ints
on its perpendicular bisector and apply these relationships to
solve problems.
1(F) Analyze mathematical relationships to connect and
communicate mathematical ideas.
Key Vocabulary:
Transversal
Lines
Alternate Exterior Angles
Alternate Interior Angles
Same-Side Interior Angles
Corresponding Angles
Vertical Angles
Linear Pair
Higher Order Questions: Do all lines and planes intersect? What happens when a line intersects two or
more lines?
Student Activities: (Keep in mind the following: Scaffolding, Independent or Cooperative activities, Groupings, Reading,
Writing, Listening, Hands-On/Minds-On, Connections to previous knowledge, etc)
Students will take turns playing “Transversal Twister”. There are four “game boards” taped on the floor that consist of two
lines and a transversal. Teacher will spin the Twister spinner(each color will represent a certain angle
pair). The students will be told “hands at alternate interior angles”,“feet at vertical angles”,etc
depending on where the spinner falls. For the first few spins,if the students are incorrect, the teacher
will correct them. After that the rules are that they must be correct and cannot have feet and hands in
the same angles. The last person standing is the winner and then a new four will play.
SPED Modifications & ELL Strategies
Use visual representation of vocabulary.
Anticipatory Activity for Lesson:

Transversal Twister
Quiz over Angle Pairs used in Twister game.
Modeling:
Teacher will assist students at the beginning of the game and correcting them when needed.
Guided Practice:
Teacher will correct students at the beginning of each round of the game if needed.
Independent Practice:
Students will take an open note quiz.
2. Lesson Closure:
This lesson is a review and will end with a quiz as formal assessment.
