◦ Foreign Language Learners
◦ Age: Any Age
◦ Level: Would be most effective with beginner language learners
◦ Consider “101” type classes
Wheel of Fortune
◦ This SMART Board learning tool would be helpful in learning a foreign language
◦ Rules
◦ 1. Divide the class into 3 teams
◦ 2. The first team chooses a member to answer a question
◦ 3. They spin the wheel and then answer a vocab question
◦ 4. If they get it right, they win the money from the wheel spin and can guess a letter
◦ 5. Then move to the next team.
◦ When it is a teams turn, they can use their money to buy a vowel.
◦ 6. Continue this until the phrase has been complete!

How is this Helpful?
◦ This is a very fun way for students to study vocabulary without even knowing it!
◦ Because their class is watching them, they have to think quickly on their feet
◦ By guessing the phrase, they get to see the words being used in a sentence and help them gain
a full understanding of foreign language Grammar.

Universal Design
◦ This is a good example of Universal Design because it involves multiple senses
◦ Visually: the colors and movement will keep students engaged
◦ Sound: the dings and bells when they are correct will grab students attention
◦ Touch: The students touch the board to spin the wheel which keeps them moving
◦ This is a great game for all types of learners because, as a game, they forget they are learning
and just want to guess the right answers!
