The Little’s 2015 Summer Camp: “Winnie the Pooh”
Dear parents, campers, and families;
Welcome to Millbrook’s 2015 Little’s camp. We are elated that your family is becoming a part
of the Millbrook community!
The Little’s camp is performing an adaptation of “Winnie the Pooh.” We will rehearse and
perform upstairs on the Ryan Main Stage. Camp runs from Monday August 17th
to Saturday
August 22nd
. Our performances are Friday, August 21st
at 5:00 pm and Saturday August 22nd
at 11:00 am. Friday, August 21st
will be a normal day of camp with pick up at one pm. On the
days of performances, campers will arrive one hour prior to the start of the show (at 4:00 pm
on the 21st
, and 10:00 am on August 22nd
).
We encourage full attendance every day of camp since our time together is limited. If you are
not able to attend a day of camp or a performance, or have any other special needs or
questions, please notify me at Shannon.agnew@gmail.com as soon as possible.
Being in a show is a new and exciting adventure for our little ones, and we will strive to push
each camper to the best of his or her ability. To transition smoothly from story book to script,
we are exploring theater through literature and story-telling. We will be observing the animals
around us, and reading small portions from Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne to help us
understand how to use stories and descriptions to build characters on stage. To help everyone
best understand how to read dialogue and interact with their scrips as "professional" actors,
each camper will be featured in one scene as a speaking role, and in the ensemble for the rest
of the show, making sure everyone gets a chance to shine on the Millbrook stage! The show is
four scenes, with two group numbers, and will run approximately thirty five minutes.
We will be using our bodies, our voices, and our energy all day, so please be sure to pack a
snack for your camper (we have refrigerators on premises). We encourage all campers also
bring a water bottle with their names written on them. On Wednesday, August 19th
, we will
also be doing a very special project and painting some props and set pieces, please
send your camper with clothes they can get messy.
Our camp day will begin promptly at nine on the Ryan Main Stage. We will be moving quite a
lot and require for safety reasons all campers wear closed toed shoes with a solid back.
Sneakers are preferable.
Campers, we are so excited to work with you for this week, get to share your amazing talents
and put together a very special show! Grown ups, we are so looking forward to working with
your special kids, and sharing in your excitement as they perform on the Main Stage.
We are looking forward to August, and if you have any questions please feel free to email me.
We’ll see you at the barn!
