2. What is interphase of a cell cycles
• Interphase is the longest part
of the cell cycle. This is
when the cell grows and
copies its DNA before
moving into mitosis. During
mitosis, chromosomes will
align, separate, and move
into new daughter cells.The
prefix inter- means between,
so interphase takes place
between one mitotic (M)
phase and the next.

3. • Interphase is important for cell
division because it allows the cell to
grow, replicate its DNA, and make
final preparations for cell division, or
mitosis. During G1, the cell grows
and does its job in the body and
physically gets larger. During the S
phase, the cell replicates its DNA

in what is called interphase,
and during this time it grows,

and prepares for cell division.
The cell then leaves interphase,
